The District Attorney's Office for the 8th Judicial District is seeking an Investigator to join our team. This position requires a current Colorado POST certification. Investigators in this office may be assigned to general docket(s) and/or Specific Victims Unit cases. For this vacancy, the office is seeking an Investigator with an interest in working with Domestic Violence cases. While this role may include a specialized focus on domestic violence crimes and close collaboration with the Domestic Violence Unit, the selected candidate will also be assigned to at least one additional general courtroom and may perform other typical investigative duties.
The Investigator works closely with prosecuting attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and other investigative units to gather evidence, build cases, and support ongoing investigations. Strong knowledge of criminal law, particularly related to domestic violence, and an understanding of victim-centered work are essential for success in this role.
This position differs from many traditional law enforcement roles in that it follows a standard 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule, with weekends and paid holidays off. Telecommuting is possible once a week after a probationary period. The role also offers specialized assignments, training opportunities, and the ability to serve as a peace officer while maintaining an active POST certification and professional connections with multiple law enforcement agencies. Investigators conduct a variety of investigations at the direction of the District Attorney and provide investigative and staff support to the office.

What you'll be doing:
* Performing a variety of professional investigative work related to cases brought before the District Attorney, including making misdemeanor and felony arrests and testifying in court.
* Initiating criminal actions in accordance with prescribed procedures.
* Interviewing witnesses, suspects, and other involved individuals; obtaining statements, documents, and related information; and gathering, assembling, preserving, and reporting facts.
* Identifying, locating, collecting, and properly handling physical evidence.
* Making recommendations to attorneys regarding the sufficiency of evidence to open formal investigations.
* Assisting in the preparation of cases for court and other legal proceedings.
* Conducting sensitive investigations at the direction of the District Attorney, including matters involving elected officials and law enforcement agencies.
* Locating witnesses and evidence for court proceedings; evaluating the credibility of testimony and evidence; and preparing diagrams and other visual aids for courtroom presentation.

* Enters relevant data into Jail Administration Comstats, including daily jail population figures, visitor statistics (both professional and personal), and the volume of incoming and outgoing mail and parcels. Ensures that all data is accurate and up to date for reporting purposes.
* Verifies bond details for transactions being sent outside Boulder County and accurately logs them in the Comstats system to maintain thorough documentation and compliance.
* Maintains an up-to-date list of notaries within the jail, manages orders for notary supplies, and provides guidance on accessing the state exam website and completing the necessary steps. Additionally, assists with notarizing paperwork for inmates and their family members, as needed (if applicable).
* Distributes phone and badge lists to Jail Division staff and ensures the employee photo board in the administrative area is current and properly maintained for quick reference.

The Emergency Services Unit (ESU) plays a critical role in ensuring the Sheriff's Office's compliance with the management of search-and-rescue operations, hazardous materials incidents, and large-scale incidents within the Sheriff's jurisdiction, such as wildfires and floods. The Unit develops and implements programs and training that enhance the response capabilities of the Sheriff's Office and EMS agencies for a range of emergency incidents, including active attackers, mass-casualty events, natural disasters, and similar situations.
The Emergency Services Coordinator is responsible for programs that support the coordination and implementation of search-and-rescue and hazmat operations in Boulder County. The ESU Coordinator will serve as the Incident Command/Unified Command for search and rescue (mountainous and swift-water), hazmat, and other emergency incidents. Please note that this is a field Incident Command position, not an Office of Disaster Management position.

The Emergency Services Unit (ESU) is part of the Operations Division of the Boulder County Sheriff's Office under the Special Operations section. ESU addresses the Sheriff's statutory responsibilities outside the typical law enforcement arena. Those areas include Search and Rescue, Hazmat, and other emergency services field work. The on-call requirement for the ESU position is the most demanding aspect of the job. With a current staff of five, the ESU Coordinators are required to take "on-call" after work hours, numerous times per week, including nights, days, weekends, and holidays. A coordinator can expect to be the primary on call ~6 days per month. The on-call Emergency Services Duty Officer (ESDO) must respond within 5 minutes of the incident page. These are full-time, benefitedpositions that will workfour 10-hour shifts, either day shifts (6:00am - 4:00pm), swing shifts (2:00pm - 12:00am), or night shifts (10:00pm - 8:00am). These positions will work out of3260 Airport Rd,Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, these positions are exempt.

* Maintains training and/or certification for elements required by either federal, state or local statue, such as Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), and for emergency response, standard evacuation procedures and administration of lifesaving techniques such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillators (AED), Narcan, etc.
* Ensures client behavior and the application of disciplinary rule and regulations
* Performs administrative and record keeping duties in support of program; documents client behavior, program activities, facility and client records retention or other types of administrative duties required by state and local statute
* Attends training through Boulder County Human Resources (HR), Community Justice Services (CJS) and conferences to keep current on job skills and current justice trends
* Participates in monthly staff meetings as required
* Develops and maintains positive working relationships with referring agencies, as well as members of the public

What you'll be doing:
Assist with daily activities to help clients stay independent and in their own homes.
Provide assistance with personal care.
Assist with mobility, transfers and range of motion exercises.
Handle meal planning, preparation and feeding.
Properly manage household needs.
Provide companionship and respite services for the family.
What we're looking for:
A passion to serve and help others live their best lives possible.
High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
Access to reliable transportation.
Previous experience as an at home caregiver or in senior communities is a bonus.
Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
