    The District Attorney's Office for the 8th Judicial District is seeking an Investigator to join our team. This position requires a current Colorado POST certification. Investigators in this office may be assigned to general docket(s) and/or Specific Victims Unit cases. For this vacancy, the office is seeking an Investigator with an interest in working with Domestic Violence cases. While this role may include a specialized focus on domestic violence crimes and close collaboration with the Domestic Violence Unit, the selected candidate will also be assigned to at least one additional general courtroom and may perform other typical investigative duties. The Investigator works closely with prosecuting attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and other investigative units to gather evidence, build cases, and support ongoing investigations. Strong knowledge of criminal law, particularly related to domestic violence, and an understanding of victim-centered work are essential for success in this role. This position differs from many traditional law enforcement roles in that it follows a standard 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule, with weekends and paid holidays off. Telecommuting is possible once a week after a probationary period. The role also offers specialized assignments, training opportunities, and the ability to serve as a peace officer while maintaining an active POST certification and professional connections with multiple law enforcement agencies. Investigators conduct a variety of investigations at the direction of the District Attorney and provide investigative and staff support to the office. The Emergency Services Unit (ESU) plays a critical role in ensuring the Sheriff's Office's compliance with the management of search-and-rescue operations, hazardous materials incidents, and large-scale incidents within the Sheriff's jurisdiction, such as wildfires and floods. The Unit develops and implements programs and training that enhance the response capabilities of the Sheriff's Office and EMS agencies for a range of emergency incidents, including active attackers, mass-casualty events, natural disasters, and similar situations. The Emergency Services Coordinator is responsible for programs that support the coordination and implementation of search-and-rescue and hazmat operations in Boulder County. The ESU Coordinator will serve as the Incident Command/Unified Command for search and rescue (mountainous and swift-water), hazmat, and other emergency incidents. Please note that this is a field Incident Command position, not an Office of Disaster Management position. Additional duties include program/project management (most working hours) and serving as a liaison to fire, EMS, and rescue partners, ensuring strong working relationships, promoting sound planning, and assisting with conflict resolution within emergency services agencies throughout Boulder County. The ESU Coordinator develops, maintains, and provides training/programs surrounding emergency services topics. These programs can include critical event planning and management; flood detection and warning; spring snowmelt and creek-flow monitoring; avalanche and winter-storm monitoring; search and rescue; hazardous materials response; and representation at various meetings. Other programs include off-road machine training, grant application and management, Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) support, internal training management, deputy training, CalTopo account management, and other activities. New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month. The work is accomplished by a team of volunteer victim advocates working on-call to provide immediate response and another team providing outreach to victims. The On-Scene Volunteer Advocates' Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the on call schedule, managing the administrative tasks of the On-Scene volunteers service at BCSO, supervising the On-Scene Volunteer Advocates' responses to crimes scenes during regular business hours, sharing the afterhours & holiday on-call supervisor duty with the other Victim Assistance staff, responding to scenes when necessary, and monitoring crime reports from the BCSO, Lafayette PD, and Louisville PD to provide outreach to victims who have not been served by the on-call on-scene volunteer advocates. The On-Scene Volunteer Advocates' Coordinator shares responsibility for recruiting, vetting, and training all volunteer advocates with the program director and the other Victim Assistance Team staff. The On-Scene Volunteer Advocates' Coordinator supervises around 30 volunteers advocates who contact victims of crime to provide information about their rights under the Colorado Victims' Rights Act, provides crisis intervention, community resources, and referrals. This position requires a 40-hour work week with the ability to be flexible, working some evenings and weekend hours. This position also responds to Critical Events and may require presence in off hours. This position reports directly to the Programs' Director. New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month.
