Description
We are looking for a structural engineer that is a recent graduate or has up to two years of design experience in a wide range of building project types (commercial, educational, health care, residential and industrial). A self-starter with good communication skills is essential. Self-discipline, willingness to learn and flexibility required.
Basic Qualifications
B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
0 - 2 years of experience.
EIT certification or the ability to obtain certification.
Proficiency in AutoCAD.
MS Office experience (Word and Excel).
Self-motivated and strong attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Revit experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with emphasis on highway design, traffic and transportation engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure for the State of Illinois required
Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
Minimum 3+ years progressively responsible experience as a Transportation Engineer or similar position
Demonstrate familiarity with ISTHA/IDOT policies, roadway design and plan preparation, and construction engineering
Must have experience with MicroStation design software
Experience with Geopak SS4/3D experience with modeling, cross sections and SUDA a plus
Qualified candidate must have a good work history and possess a valid driver's license to use company-owned vehicles to travel to project locations, perform field work, or attend off-property meetings

RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Engineers at Orion assist in various tasks including plan preparation, quantity calculations, structural analysis and design, public involvement, report writing, specifications, cost estimates, construction administration and other related tasks. Candidates with an interest in inspection and assessments, development of detailed plans and specifications, and construction engineering of bridge and building structures are recommended. As an integral member of a collaborative design process with Architects, Engineers and Contractors, professional activities will vary and can include:
Preparation of design computations, plans, specifications and quantity and cost estimates.
Conduct bridge inspections and prepare Bridge Condition Reports.
Use a variety of software and programs for structural analysis and design, and plan preparation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate Degree in Project Management, Construction Management or a related field (the candidate must possess equivalent combinations of technical training and experience).
At least 3 years of Revit experience.
Must be self-motivated and have a desire for continued learning and personal growth
Must be highly detail oriented with excellent organization skills
Positive attitude toward project challenges
PREFERRED:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or similar field is preferred.
