Qualifications
Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering
3.0 GPA or higher
Coursework in structural analysis, steel design and reinforced concrete design
Professional demeanor
Proven skills in planning and organizing
Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way
Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn.

This position will offer you the opportunity to work and lead others in a project team environment in the design, modification, and/or upgrade of new and existing power plant electrical systems.
Under the direction of the Electrical Project Lead, you will work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams in the development of the following:
* Cable schedules
* Grounding Layout
* Conduit routing
* Conduct and junction box support design
* Electrical equipment locating/mounting
You will produce electrical physical drawings, and review and incorporate vendor drawings into the overall project design.
There will be opportunities to accompany and assist in field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
Qualifications
Essential skills and experience:
An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience.
10 or more years of detailed physical design experience in the development of grounding layouts, underground duct bank and embedded conduit drawings, cable tray and exposed conduit layouts, and electrical equipment location drawings.
Experience in the review of electrical physical layout drawings involving electrical equipment outlines and interface points.
Assist engineers with initial design requirements.
Produce physical construction layout drawings.
Extensive Microstation and/or AutoCAD design experience on power plants or large facility projects.
A thorough understanding of drafting and design practices and theories.
The ability to interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.

8 or more years of experience in power plant or industrial plant design, with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new facilities, or modifications or replacements for existing facilities.
Experience in the selection of equipment, materials, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications.
Experience with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), communication systems, equipment selection, and analytical calculations.
Experience performing calculations in ETAP and/or SKM.
Technically knowledgeable of available electrical power distribution equipment.
Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a lead engineering role.
Experience in reviewing other engineers' design calculations and drawings.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
Technical knowledge and experience with instrumentation and controls engineering.

Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and S&L formats.
Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models based in PLS-CADD.
Adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes.
This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:
BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
12 years of transmission design experience.
Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
Experience must include preparation of scopes of work, development of conceptual designs, determination of design basis, the selection of equipment and materials, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications.
Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV.
Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI.
Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
PE license
PMP certification
Construction experience
Familiarity with ArcGIS

* Prepare calculations relating to storm water drainage, sanitary sewer systems and disposal fields, and earthwork, to support design and permitting.
* Prepare technical specifications to define construction requirements.
* Prepare site layout, grading, and drainage designs.
