Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department company history timeline

1973

Prior to July 1, 1973, the police agencies in Clark County consisted of five; namely, the Clark County Sheriff's Department, City of Las Vegas Police Department, City of North Las Vegas Police Department, City of Henderson Police Department and Boulder City Police Department.

In 1973, Senate Bill 340 took effect and merged the sheriff's office and police department into the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

1980

So, he eventually joined the Central Intelligence Agency in 1980 and did 22 years there.

1981

In 1981 funding for this department became an issue in the Nevada Legislature again; including some discussion of "de-consolidation". Until that time, funding was based on arbitrary fixed percentages determined by the legislature.

1986

1988

She began her career in law after graduating from Marquette University Law School in 1988.

Eventually, the Department implemented the first officer training program, and in 1988, added 18 new officers.

1989

In 1989, it became the 112th agency to achieve accreditation through C.A.L.E.A., and it was the first police agency in Nevada to receive the award.

JOE MURPHY, III, FOUNDING PARTNER & CEO, MURPHY ELECTRIC, INC./ LVMPD FOUNDATION BOARD TREASURER Joe Murphy is founding partner and Chief Executive Officer of Murphy Electric, Inc., the electrical contracting firm he founded in 1989.

Since 1989, all police applicants go through extensive pre-employment testing and background investigations.

1994

Implementation Of the Program: In December 1994, two LVMPD Crime Prevention Specialists, Harold Julian and Ron Corbin (California Crime Prevention Officers Association members), were sent to Mesa to complete 20 hours of training on the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program.

Bauhaus was born and raised in Germany and made Las Vegas her home in 1994 after receiving a degree from the Phillips University in Marburg, Germany.

Named a national “Influencer” by Campaigns and Elections magazine, Ferrence has played a key role in Nevada politics since 1994.

1995

The first four months of 1995 were devoted to developing and modifying the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program for implementation into the LVMPD's goals.

1998

LVMPD was one of only 14 agencies in the nation in 1998 to be awarded the "triple crown" of accreditation (Commission on Accreditation for Corrections, C.A.L.E.A.,and National Commission on Correctional Healthcare) through the National Sheriff's Association.

The jurisdiction population in the City of Las Vegas and the unincorporated areas of Clark County reached over 962,000 by the end of 1998.

1999

By December 1999, the LVMPD, led by current Sheriff Jerry Keller, increased its personnel to 1,580 commissioned police officers and 973 civilian employees; Detention Services Division had 454 commissioned officers and 197 civilians.

In 1999, the Clark County School District Police was again impacted by the legislature.

2002

Mike joined Microsoft in 2002, first worked in running Executive Protection for a year, before being promoted to Chief Security Officer.

2005

Prior to her most recent position, Bone served as Director of Community and Youth Initiatives for the Raiders until 2005.

He is a partner at De Castroverde Law Group, which he founded with his brother, Alex, in 2005.

2007

In August of 2007, Bauhaus left her position as Senior Deputy Attorney General at the Nevada Attorney General’s office to join LVMPD.

2008

In February 2008, Clark County School District made an unprecedented decision to promote one of its own, Captain Filiberto Arroyo, to the rank of Chief of Police.

He also serves as the Managing Member of Nextgen Systems, which he established in 2008.

Although Nami has been pursuing a career as a fitness professional since 2008, she always had a passion to volunteer and donate to various causes, especially those relating to first responders, military, veterans, and K9 units.

2010

In 2010, she joined Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center, in Redding, California as Director of Cardiac and Stroke Services.

2014

He joined the LVMPD Foundation Board in 2014.

Chief Ketsaa also deployed a complete body worn camera program in 2014 prior to any other Police Department in Clark County.

2017

In 2017 Ferrence joined the LVMPD Foundation Board of Directors.

2018

After founding The Gratitude Project from the aftermath of 1 October, Nami launched the Hidden Heroes Gala for the LVMPD Foundation in 2018.

Lisa assumed her current role in 2018 after serving as Chief Operations Officer and Regional Vice President for Nevada Medicaid.

2019

HUNTER CAMPBELL, CHIEF BUSINESS OFFICER, UFC Campbell is currently the Chief Business Officer of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and has held the position since April 2019.

In 2019, she became President and CEO of St Rose San Martín.

2020

Brent received his MBA from UNLV in November 2020 and looks forward to further cementing his roots in our wonderful community.

2021

ERIC BASU, CEO, HAIKU CYBER RANGE Eric Basu is the chief executive officer of Haiku Cyber Range, after serving as president and CEO of Sentek Global, which he sold in 2021.
