Collects water quality sample data as required from production and monitoring wells, domestic and shallow network and small system wells, the Las Vegas Wash and its tributaries and the Muddy River; assists in the selection of sampling sites; ensures EPA sampling, preservation and chain of custody protocols are followed in sample collection processes; performs sampling as required for permit compliance monitoring applicable to the LVVWD Aquifer Storage and Recovery program; conducts water quality chemistry analyses of samples for nitrates and a variety of other substances and documents results; performs quarterly sampling of the ten-well Las Vegas Valley nitrate groundwater monitoring network; evaluates and maintains water quality sampling databases for analysis. Provides overall supervision of Officers assigned to their respective USMS Region, ensuring proper scheduling and offering mentorship as needed. Maintains a roster and assigns Officers to missions upon request of the USMS Acts as a liaison between GTI and the districts within their designated region Recommends performance improvement plans when necessary and implements effective disciplinary measures for Officers who fail to adhere to strict policies and procedures regarding the transportation and guarding of detainees. If performance does not improve, recommends additional disciplinary actions, including termination. Continuously enhances Officers' knowledge and skills by facilitating training sessions and providing relevant materials. Ability to: Utilize GIS, CAD and other applications and tools to complete assigned projects efficiently and accurately; perform highly detailed data capture thoroughly, efficiently and with a high degree of accuracy to create, edit, revise and maintain facilities infrastructure data; research and interpret field notes, engineering and construction drawings, digital redlines, GPS and other data to identify and resolve discrepancies and missing data on assigned projects; perform engineering computations applicable to the work; prepare a wide variety of maps and other products to meet engineering customer requirements; work effectively both individually and as a team member; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, inspectors and employees in other departments and others encountered in the course of work. Training and Experience: A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is an Associate's degree from a recognized community college or vocational school; and at least two years of responsible technical experience in the use and operations of CAD and GIS systems, preferably in a public utility or engineering organization; or an equivalent level of training and experience. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education. Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: A valid Nevada driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's Vehicle Insurance Policy.
