The Machinist II will perform set-up and operate equipment such as, but not limited to, brake press, machines, cuts, taps, and alters bar stock according to specifications. Follows blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to machine metal accurately. Uses hand and power tools to smooth and finish edges and/or complete parts.
What You'll do as a Machinist II
* Perform all duties of a Machinist I, plus have the capability to mentor a lower-level machine operator.
* Set up and operate a CO2 or fiber laser, maintaining an 80% to 90% efficiency rate daily.
* Make minor offset corrections to tooling or machines as needed.
* Check work to ensure that it meets the specifications set for the job.
* Detect when the machine is not running correctly by sight, sound, and visual defects on completed parts.
* Check work to ensure that it meets the specifications set, and communicate with Senior or Lead if issues are found.
* Read and interpret travelers, blueprints, and other work instruction documents, including the Shop Floor Control System.
* Use required measuring instruments and gauges to check and ensure parts meet dimensional requirements.
* Comply with all quality standards, safety rules, and regulations.
* Additional duties as required to meet business needs.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
* High School Diploma or GED.
* 3 years of related experience.
* 2 years of experience working in a solid metal fabrication/machining environment.
Preferred:
* Completion of a formal machining training program is preferred.
* Experience operating a CO2 or Fiber Laser is preferred.
Other:
* Must have strong math skills, proficiency in troubleshooting and basic computer skills.
* Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Must have ability to stand for long periods. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
* Align and secure materials on the laser cutting table.
* Load and interpret CAD files or other design inputs into the machine's control interface.
