New Focus, an MKS/Newport company, is looking for a Laser Technician that is knowledgeable in handling, aligning, and testing of solid stat lasers coupled to optical fibers. Should be knowledgeable of optical fiber transmission, insertion loss, and return loss. Basic knowledge of electronical PCBA and component (resistor, capacitor etc.)
What you will do is:

+ Align and test solid state laser systems in manufacturing

+ Adjust the laser and optical components for optimum laser performance

+ Couple and optimize alignment of optical fibers to lasers

+ Troubleshoot problems, evaluate and determine corrections and implement corrections on laser systems.

What you will bring to the role and to our team are the following qualifications and skills:

+ Minimum 3-4 years of electronic instrument or laser manufacturing experience with associate degree in related field preferred

+ Experience handling, inspecting, and cleaning of optical components and fibers.

+ Good understanding of laser theory and optical alignment experience.

+ Experience handling ESD sensitive components and laser diodes.

+ Experience assembling small electronic and optical devices.

+ Understanding and working with Wavemeter, Power meter, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, DVM, laser sources, power supplies.

+ Soldering experience desired

+ Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis

+ Knowledge of SAP or other MRP system

Job Description and Responsibilities:

We are looking for an individual with several years of experience aligning laser resonators. This individual should be comfortable with explaining how a laser is assembled, the type of optics used in the laser (OC, HR, SHG, THG, etc.), the parameters that indicate whether or not a laser is properly aligned, and best practices for building high quality lasers. Education and Work Experience:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A lot of driving is required to service different locations in the Southern California area, which means overnight and/or extended travel may be required when needed.

COMPENSATION

Education and experience may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. All Laser Technicians are guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week . This means even when you are scheduled less than 40-hours, you will still get paid the minimum plus any overtime accrued.
