New Focus, an MKS/Newport company, is looking for a Laser Technician that is knowledgeable in handling, aligning, and testing of solid stat lasers coupled to optical fibers. Should be knowledgeable of optical fiber transmission, insertion loss, and return loss. Basic knowledge of electronical PCBA and component (resistor, capacitor etc.)
What you will do is:

+ Align and test solid state laser systems in manufacturing

+ Adjust the laser and optical components for optimum laser performance

+ Couple and optimize alignment of optical fibers to lasers

+ Troubleshoot problems, evaluate and determine corrections and implement corrections on laser systems.

What you will bring to the role and to our team are the following qualifications and skills:

+ Minimum 3-4 years of electronic instrument or laser manufacturing experience with associate degree in related field preferred

+ Experience handling, inspecting, and cleaning of optical components and fibers.

+ Good understanding of laser theory and optical alignment experience.

+ Experience handling ESD sensitive components and laser diodes.

+ Experience assembling small electronic and optical devices.

+ Understanding and working with Wavemeter, Power meter, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, DVM, laser sources, power supplies.

+ Soldering experience desired

+ Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis

+ Knowledge of SAP or other MRP system

Job Description and Responsibilities:

We are looking for an individual with several years of experience aligning laser resonators. This individual should be comfortable with explaining how a laser is assembled, the type of optics used in the laser (OC, HR, SHG, THG, etc.), the parameters that indicate whether or not a laser is properly aligned, and best practices for building high quality lasers. • Assemble, clean, align, test and calibration, along with data collection and analysis on optical/laser assembly to meet performance specification.• Troubleshoot and perform problem isolation on laser system and sub-assembly components. • Collect and evaluate test and build data to ensure process control and product quality based on specific procedures and processes• Interface with engineers on special tests and qualification testing of new products• Skills with laser profiling, energy and power measurements• Experience with Excel, Opto-mechanics, crystal lasers, diode lasers, device life testing, basic electronics, oscilloscope use, experimental design, cooling systems, follow work instructions and quality test documents• Ability to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

Education and Work Experience:

+ Extensive experience with the alignment and assembly of lasers

+ Comfortable with electronic and electro-optical test and measurement systems.

+ Minimum of 5 years of related experience.

+ AS degree, Technical degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

+ Ability to use standard PC software including MSWord, MSExcel, MSOutlook, etc.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while ensuring high quality standards

1. May cover West to Torrance, South to San Diego

There may be some weeks when you will be scheduled less than 40 hours, but you will always get paid a minimum of 40 hours plus over-time when applicable.

You will deliver and set up medical equipment at different facilities for treatment. You will provide support to surgical staff focusing on the delivery of excellent patient care.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A lot of driving is required to service different locations in the Southern California area, which means overnight and/or extended travel may be required when needed.
• Strong communication skills
• Impeccable customer service skills
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule
• Must have a current driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to legally drive in accordance with DOT standards (at least 21 years of age)
• Must satisfy credentialing requirements established by health care facilities including vaccinations, immunizations, training courses, etc.

PREFERRED CANDIDATES

• At least one year experience providing assistance in a healthcare environment.
• Experience in roles where you had to service multiple job sites

COMPENSATION

Education and experience may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. All Laser Technicians are guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week . This means even when you are scheduled less than 40-hours, you will still get paid the minimum plus any overtime accrued.
