These positions are working 3rd shift Wed – Sat. 7:30pm - 5:30am; will be required to work weekends and Holidays. Position is offered a 15% shift differential.
Responsibilities:
- Be able to prepare, search, retrieve, analyze, compare, and evaluate friction ridge images
- Practical experience in comparing latent prints to known prints and make conclusions
- Experience in the examination of digital images and determination whether a latent print has sufficient quality to make a comparison, and/or to submit to the available databases
- Experience with digital forensic principles and tools and knowledge of tools and systems used for identity exploitation of biometric attributes.
- Shall also possess experience in the review and evaluation of identity data contained in large Federal identity information repositories and in the management best practices, techniques, and methods in the biometric field
- Write technical reports on the scientific analysis of comparisons
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues and
- provide outstanding customer service and support to State, Federal and Local Law Enforcement agencies, agents throughout the Department of Homeland Security and its mission partners
- Positions may be shift work. This is a 24 x 7 operation, 365 days a year and all candidates must be willing to work, nights, weekends and/or holidays

+ Performs routine forensic laboratory analysis and examinations of evidence in cases involving latent prints; Safeguards evidence and maintains chain-of-custody through the use of physical protocols and applicable documentation. Ensures safety precautions and applicable regulations are followed.

Xator latent print examiner job description
Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to work in the DoD premier Forensic Center based in Fort Gillem, GA. May be required to travel OCONUS (as needed). Potential locations are determined by the client, but include Bahrain, Kuwait, Djibouti and/or Iraq .
Benefits in include hotel and per diem during the 6+ month assessment period in the Atlanta area for candidates located outside the region. Eligible for 21-day R&R for every year of deployment. Active SECRET clearance strongly preferred, but for the right candidate the contract could pursue a security clearance investigation/reinvestigation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
+ Perform analysis techniques to determine the existence of latent prints (e.g., Process IED evidence to develop latent prints using standard laboratory procedures.
+ Identify, mark, photograph, determine suitability, submit, and perform comparisons.
+ Process evidence to determine the presence of latent fingerprints using any documented wet and dry laboratory process at their location. (Processing methods include, but are not limited to, Cyanoacrylate fuming, stickyside paste, and dyes).
+ Examine evidence for latent prints using all means available, including, specialized lighting sources, conditions, and magnification.
+ Analyze latent prints in Adobe Photoshop to determine suitability and submit to the Defense Forensic Biometric Agency (DFBA).
+ Examine and compare latent prints to known prints, determine whether the print has sufficient quality to make a comparison, and/or to submit to the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).
+ Independently verify print matches made by other examiners.
+ Interpret results for forensic and/or intelligence exploitation.
+ Annotate the case file documentation, detailing the processing techniques and the examination results.
+ Document all examination results/findings in the Weapons Technical Intelligence Exploitation Analysis Tool (WEAT) database.
+ Perform administrative and/or technical reviews of reports and worksheets.
+ Ensure proper chain of custody is maintained at all times
+ Maintain a clean laboratory and personal workspace environment, in accordance with local laboratory procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education
+ A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 1-4 years' experience in the processing of material for latent prints, recovery of latents, examination, visualizing/recording latents, and evaluating latent prints in a forensics laboratory. (Associate's degree with 5-7 years related experience or High School diploma with 8-10 years related experience are an acceptable equivalent).
+ Professional certification by the International Association of Identification (IAI) is desired.
Experience
+ Experience working in a lab performing Latent Print examinations and analysis on all types of materials to include porous, non-porous, and semi-porous materials
+ Experience using chemical, physical, and digital latent print examination techniques to produce a suitable print for comparison.
+ Proficiency utilizing AFIS, ABIS, and/or other National databases.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills Requirements
+ Have 20/20 vision or correctable to 20/20 vision with no detected color vision deficiencies.
