Lathe Machine Operator
to work with a manufacturing company located in
Liberty Lake, WA
.
This is a direct hire position.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Follow the procedures set forth in the work instructions or by the Supervisor and/or Lead(s).
• Follow prescribed standards of CNC operations, beginner set-ups of established processes and meeting cycle times of those processes in the machine shop.
• Meets standards set forth in our AS9102/ISO metrics plan concerning quality, cost and delivery.
• Be proactive in maintaining established company policies and manufacturing strategies.
• Take an active role in organizing and improving current processes when necessary.
  

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a machine shop operator
  • Must have knowledge and skills from pre-stage raw material, conduct tool changes, run product, make tool off-sets for proven processes in CNC Lathes
  • Must have experience with blueprint reading and a working knowledge of Geometric tolerancing and calculating.
  • Working knowledge of Lean thinking principles.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

I\. Sets up and operates any type and size turret lathe to perform a wide range of operations requiring difficult tool settings and methods utilizing the full capacity of the assigned machines to finish machine materials and parts on both production and developmental work usually where no

planning or tooling is available\.

a\. Performs any planning or layout work necessary in making set ups\. Determines tools, sets and adjusts tools and controls without aid from supervisor\.

b\. Detects faulty operations and takes prompt action to correct such operation to avoid damage to product and equipment\. Grinds cutting tools required in the completion of work assignment\.

II\. Plans and performs a sequence of operations to accomplish new and unusual jobs where only general sequencing or operational methods are available\. Sets ups are exacting but not difficult\.

III\. Uses a variety of measuring instruments which may include micrometers, vernier calipers, dial gages, thread gages, bore gages, dial indicator gages, etc\.

IV\. Responsible only for own work\.

V\. Performs other related duties as required\.

**Qualifications**

EDUCATION:

Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification\. Requires use of blueprints, drawings, advanced shop mathematics, handbook formulas, and variety of precision instruments\.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires minimum of 3 years turret lathe or closely related experience\.

Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (1) full-time Manual Lathe Operator. The Manual Lathe Operator will utilize various industrial tools and will be responsible for the set up and operation of Manual Machining Equipment in tight tolerances. This position must maintain a clean and safe work area and perform a variety of duties including grinding, de-burring, cleaning of parts, cutting and removal of scrap. This position must read work orders to locate cutting layout lines on stock, to determine dimensions and tolerances, and to determine metal to be cut, type of blade to be used, blade tension, cutting speed, feed rate, table angle, and positions of table stops and guides. This position will accurately complete all paper work associated with work orders as well as performing other tasks as assigned in support of fabrication shop management.

The Manual Lathe Operator will work out of the Grantsville Fabrication shop. This position will report directly to the Shop Foreman.

+ Capable of safely operating Manual Machining Equipment such as conventional milling machines, lathes, and drills
+ Possesses knowledge of machining functions including power button and all switches

+ Must be capable of extensive use of overhead cranes to move materials and parts as needed.

+ Capable of securing work pieces and operating stops and guides for proper alignment

+ Must have knowledge of and experience with basic blueprints and drawings

+ Able to use basic measure devices including a tape measure

+ Able to calibrate Machining Equipment to appropriate angles and cut backs

+ Must perform routine maintenance of all equipment associated with the operation of the Manual Machining Equipment.

+ Must perform all necessary quality checks during production and follow procedures when defective parts are discovered.

+ Demonstrates proficiency in reading and executing work orders and QA sheets

+ Must have experience with a forklift and crane

+ Must have knowledge of steel shapes and sizes

+ Preferred candidates will possess a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of 1 year of experience and general knowledge of worksite safety and machining operation

+ Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

+ Must be dependable, trustworthy, possess a positive attitude, and be willing to work independently or in a team environment

+ Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that may include extended work hours and occasional weekends

+ Must possess excellent math skills including adding, subtracting, decimals and fractions.

+ Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

+ Must be able to work independently, follow instructions, multi-task while maintaining a clean work area.
