We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our staff as a Laundry Attendant. This hotel has won the Choice Gold Award for four consecutive years. This is awarded to the top 10% of the hotels based on customer reviews and yearly inspections performed by a company that Choice selects.
The laundry attendant is responsible for providing a constant supply of clean linens for the entire hotel.
Primary Duties & Accountabilities
Assist with stripping of dirty linen from the guest rooms as needed. Sort linens for washer. Remove stains from badly soiled linen. Operate washers and dryers properly as well as ensuring that the correct cycles are used. Fold linens to hotel standards and keep stock organized in designated places. Wash bed scarfs, quilts, top sheets, mattress sheets and shower curtains to hotel standards. Keep laundry area neat and clean. Assist housekeepers in cleanliness of hotel. Assist with changing and up-keeping of storage areas. All other duties assigned.
Guest Service
Offers guests assistance whenever possible and if unable to assist the guest then let management know so they can take care of it. Responsible for positively representing and promoting the property. Ensures systems and procedures are in place and followed for guest safety and security.
Other Duties as Assigned
Reports any maintenance, security, or safety issues to management. Participates in special projects when asked for maintaining guest rooms and common areas.
Skills, Educational Background & Experience
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of relevant work experience required. Previous housekeeping/laundry experience of a minimum of 1 year mandatory. Ability to efficiently work under time constraints. Superior customer service skills. Capability to multi-task multiple projects/duties at once. Integrity to safeguard confidential information. Responsibilities- Operating and tending the machines including to wash and dry articles, such as cloth, terry, sheets, blankets, draperies, linens, rugs, and carpets ensuring the proper volume of detergent, water, bleach, starch, and other additives as needed.
- Sorting and counting articles removed from dryers, then fold, wrap, or hang them.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the laundry closet; washing, drying, sorting, and counting the linens; folding and restocking the linens in an efficient manner.
- Operate extractors, dyers and blower fans as needed.
- Inspect soiled articles to determine sources of stains, to locate color imperfections, and to identify items requiring special treatment.
- Determine spotting procedures and proper solvents, based on fabric and stain types.
- Iron or press articles, fabrics, banquet linens, napkins, spa linen using hand irons or pressing machines.
- Communicate with Office Coordinator and/or Laundry Supervisor regarding Housemen needs for linens on the floors/cottages.
- Track and record all loads washed and dried using provided spreadsheet to calculate productivity. Record loss of linens due to stains, tears and wear.
- Laundry worker experience in a hotel or other high-volume location preferred.
- Basic math skills.
- Effective communication skills; ability to communicate with guests and team.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
- Working environment is inside and surrounded by commercial grade washers and dryers and other various laundry service equipment.
- Temperatures will vary depending on weather and how many machines are in operation at any given time.
