Job Title: Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Department: Athletics Reports To: Head Women's Basketball Coach Rate of Pay: Stipend Summary: The purpose of this position is to assist the head coach in the recruitment and retention of a full competitive roster. Follow all IVCCD, ICCAC and NJCAA rules and regulations in administering the program. Support the development of student athletes. Assist with the coordination of travel, game schedule, recruiting, inventory and maintenance of equipment. Assist with game management duties.
Job Duties: Assist with the daily oversight of a collegiate basketball program. Including, but not limited support for students' athletes on and off the court, including compliance within IVCCD, ICCAC, and with all NJCAA bylaws. Further, assist with team travel, practices/workouts, academic study halls, prospective student-athlete recruiting, game scouting, and game scheduling. Assistant will maintain inventory and equipment of uniforms, in addition to helping with program and department fundraising and attending all IVCCD and ICCAC meetings as required. Lastly, assistant may be asked to assist with program strength and conditioning program, game management, and assistance with team transportation. Supports the overall success of the district by performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Associate degree in education or related field preferred and College coaching and scholarship management preferred.
Abilities: Requires independent decision making, ability to exercise good judgment, and use of critical thinking skills.
May work in an environment of shifting priorities; frequent interruptions; hectic pace; and interaction with students, staff and/or the public. Working knowledge of computer software programs which may include Word, Excel, institutional mainframe computer software, or similar programs. Excellent written and oral communication skills including proficiency in business English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to handle highly confidential matters and materials with discretion. Ability to work independently as well as be a collaborative team player in completing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines. Organizational skills, time management, relationship building and communication skills essential.
