The LSAT didn't get started until the summer of 1947 when Columbia representatives met with testing organization representatives.
The first LSAT was administered in 1948.
The quarterly Journal of Legal Education, published since 1948, is made available without cost to full-time faculty at member schools through the courtesy of West and Foundation Press, which print the Journal.
LSAC goes international with the introduction of its first Canadian member schools, bringing its total membership to 174 law schools by 1976.

The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is the halfday, standardized entrance exam required by the 198 law schools (184 in the United States and 15 in Canada) that constitute the membership of the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) as of July 2001.

In mid-2018, however, the schedule will expand to include six testing dates.
Each year, 100,000 potential law school applicants worldwide take the LSAT. As of June 2019, the LSAT is now administered in two parts.
