Job Description
Provide exceptional care and assistance in completing activities of daily living to inpatients, including toileting, bathing, grooming, feeding and re-positioning as delegated by the RN. Performs all patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Functions in the role of assistant to the nursing staff or to the Registered Nurse.
Performs non-nursing functions which impact and contribute to the quality of patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Provides and maintains a safe and comfortable environment for the patient:
- Assists patients getting in and out of bed.
- Orients patient to call l light and side rails, maintains accessibility and answers call light in a timely fashion.
- Stays with restless patients.
- Makes and instructs in the use of cough pillows.
- Assists in the collection of medical data, vital signs.
Assists the Registered Nurse with specific components of admission, transfer, and discharge of patients:
- Preparation of the unit.
- Transferring patient to bed.
- Assembling patients' belongings.
- Accompanying patients as directed.
Assists the Registered Nurse with ADLs:
- Partial bed baths, assistance with shower and sit baths, as appropriate for patient.
- Fills water pitchers serves nourishments.
- Records intake and output.
Assists with collection of specimens.
Documents vital signs, I&O on appropriate forms.
Disposes of trash and linen on an ongoing basis.
May be required to float, within competencies, to other units, as needed.
Knowledgeable and compliant with infectious diseases policy and procedures: - Appropriately cares for patients on precautions.
- Uses protective measures as deemed appropriate.
- Separates infectious materials and disposes of them appropriately.
Complies with Patient Safety goals as set forth by the medical center.

Reports immediately to supervisor of an unusual occurrence related to patients, other staff and self.

Reports all incidents and breaches in quality care to the Patient Care Director and delegate.
VI. Accountability:
Shall be accountable for patient care delivered.
Shall be accountable for maintaining the confidentiality and security of all hospital-related, medical staff-related and patient-related data and information. Shall be accountable for abiding by all relevant Medical Center Policies and Procedures.
Shall be accountable for observing all policies and procedures of the unit, including Infection Control Policy and Procedures.
VII. Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
High School diploma or equivalency.

In this full-time, 36-hour-per-week role, you'll work three 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM with an every 3rd weekend rotation), providing personal, hands-on care to patients recovering in the comfort of their own homes.

Who You'll Care For
As part of the Home Hospital team, you will support adult patients who are receiving hospital-level care at home. Our patient population is diverse and includes individuals experiencing:

* Heart failure

These patients may require close monitoring, mobility support, assistance with daily personal care, and compassionate presence as they stabilize and recover in the comfort of their own homes.

What You'll Do
In this role, you'll assist patients with daily personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, toileting, ambulation, and other essential activities that promote independence, safety, and comfort. You will follow individualized care plans, document your support accurately, communicate clearly with families and clinical teammates, and report any concerns promptly.
Your day will include traveling between patient homes across the North Region. Assignments are sent the night before, giving you the chance to plan your route and prepare for the specific needs of each patient. Whether you're providing a short 4-hour visit or a full 12-hour shift, you play an important part in helping patients heal at home.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, our Patient Care Technicians provide direct clinical and support services. Using our patient-centered care model and uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, you will participate in the delivery of care to our patients and their families. You will also work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient, family, and staff needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the MedSurg department and their families.
Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.
Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the MedSurg department.
Contribute to the efficient operation of the MedSurg department ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED certificateCertification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
Ability to pass clinical competency testing
Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
Basic math and computer proficiency
One of the following:
One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting
Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training
Completed an approved certified medical assistant training
One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
Fluency in another language a plus
Previous medical/surgical experience preferred

The Clinical Research Laboratory (CRL) Medical Technologist is responsible for processing all clinical samples from patients on clinical trials at the institute. The technologist needs to follow and comply with lab procedures provided by study sponsors and study teams. **Primary Duties and Responsibilities**

+ Maintain all record keeping and Quality Control requirements as needed.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Demonstrates proficiency performing all lab procedures for over 200 active clinical trials. Lab procedures are driven by study sponsors and are not standard across all protocols.
+ Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking skills to follow complex sample collection flowcharts for multiple drugs and multiple cohort clinical trials conducted over multiple disease centers.
+ Demonstrates strong problem solving ability as samples are time sensitive and cannot be redrawn.
+ Assists study teams with data and sample information for internal and external audits.
+ Demonstrates good organizational skills and is detail oriented as samples are de-identified once processed.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, working as part of a team and interacting with several disease centers.
+ Demonstrates dependability under a variety of circumstances and is committed to provide the best and most reliable service possible, with minimal supervision.
