The Global Technology, Outsourcing and Privacy Group seeks an experienced attorney in a part-time position to help grow an innovative team serving corporate in-house legal departments. The attorney will work directly with sophisticated clients on client-focused service teams and will manage his or her own matters under the supervision of a managing attorney. Responsibilities include analyzing, drafting, and negotiating master services agreements, marketing agreements, statements of work, non-disclosure agreements, supply agreements, license agreements, SaaS agreements, general terms and conditions, and a variety of other commercial contracts.
The successful candidate will be team-oriented with a strong focus on client service. Strong communication and time management skills are required. Four or more years of commercial contracting, procurement, or information technology experience is preferred. The attorney will have access to firm resources, including continuing legal education.
The position has an annual billable hour expectation of less than 1,000 hours, but no minimum hours are guaranteed. The attorney will be paid on an hourly basis for billable hours worked and recorded at a rate determined by experience. This position is not partnership-track or benefits-eligible. The position offers flexible hours but schedule will be subject to client needs. The attorney will telecommute from a home office in the District of Columbia or any U.S. state, other than California, in which the firm maintains an office, and the attorney must be licensed in that jurisdiction. At the time of posting, the expected salary range for this position is $130/hr to $155/hr. Actual salary offers may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to, education, training, skill sets, licensure and certification, practice area, experience, internal equity, and market data. About the Role:
The basic purpose of this position is to act as a Health Attorney within the Division of Insurance. Essential Functions:
Provide both mentoring to KIND pro bono attorneys and direct legal representation to KIND clients.
In the pro bono mentoring function, provide robust consultation and technical assistance to pro bono attorneys who have accepted a KIND case.
In the direct representation function, perform ordinary functions of legal counsel including legal research and formulating the legal strategy for the case; conducting client interviews; appearing before immigration and/or state courts or agencies; and drafting and filing court pleadings and applications for benefits.
Supervise interns and/or other non-attorney staff as needed including:
Onboarding, skills training, daily support and coaching, review and quality assurance of filings, regular check-ins and performance evaluations, and provision of consistent and effective supervision and oversight.
Place cases with pro bono attorneys and actively build relationships between KIND and the pro bono community.
In coordination with KIND's Training and Technical Assistance Team and the local field office Senior Attorney/s, as needed, help develop pro bono training resources and local training curriculum, including sample filings and guidance packets. With supervision, present trainings to pro bono attorneys and community groups.
Contribute to overall office functioning, including actively participating in field office and KIND-wide calls and meetings, field office and KIND-wide committees, and assisting with office events.

Qualifications and Requirements:

HLA's Mental Health Advocacy Program for Kids (MHAP for Kids) improves the health and increases the educational success of children with unmet mental health needs. Experienced staff attorneys provide free legal representation to families with low income, advocating for access to mental health services and diverting children from the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. MHAP for Kids attorneys are embedded in Family Resource Centers (FRCs) around the state. We are seeking a highly qualified, motivated lawyer with knowledge of the juvenile court, mental health, and/or education systems to join the talented MHAP for Kids team as our staff attorney based in Fitchburg. The attorney will advocate for up to 30 youth at a time across the school, court, and mental health systems, to ensure that their mental health needs are met and their legal rights are protected.
Duties and Responsibilities
The primary day-to-day responsibility of the position is to provide legal representation for youth with unmet mental health needs.
More specific activities include:
Meeting with clients
Conducting legal research and writing
Analyzing education, medical, court, and other relevant records
Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with staff of the host Family Resource Center
Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with state agencies, such as DCF, DMH, DYS, as well as other stakeholders in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems
Managing case files
Promoting MHAP for Kids in the community
Participating in program evaluation
Qualifications

Juris Doctor Degree and active license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
4+ years of relevant work experience
Excellent communication skills, including oral advocacy and writing skills
A strong understanding of the juvenile court
A strong understanding of children's mental health systems
Strong advocacy skills
Other preferred qualifications:
Track record of effectively collaborating with government and community-based service agencies
Demonstrated cultural competence
Proven ability to handle a substantial caseload
Knowledge of the communities served by the host Family Resource Center
Bilingual skills (English and Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Haitian Creole)
Compensation
