As a Summer Analyst on the Shareholder Advisory and Activism Defense Team, you will work in small teams advising public companies on a broad range of topics including shareholder activism and takeover defense, matters regarding public equity markets and understanding investing patterns of institutional investors. You will work closely with sector banking teams in reviewing and evaluating corporate strategy, M&A dynamics and corporate financial policies, all through a shareholder lens. The Secondary Capital Advisory group is currently seeking an Analyst to support its ongoing growth. Key deal execution tasks include: Preparing materials, including confidential information memorandums, new business pitches, client presentations, and supporting due diligence documents Provides support in building financial projection models for underlying companies and fund level returns Participating in investor outreach, including sitting in on introductory calls, price discovery, and active processes Interfacing directly with private equity clients, management teams, and investors on prospective and mandated transactions Assisting junior team in tracking responsibilities including live deals, opportunities pipeline, internal controls and market intelligence Communicating regularly with Private Capital Advisory professionals and across Piper Sandler's M&A and Financial Sponsor Coverage teams Qualifications include: The Internship Program is open to students who anticipate graduating from a top-tier undergraduate institution in December 2027 or May/June 2028 Minimum 3.5 GPA Seeking a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics or another business-related field Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, including Excel modeling and valuation Very strong technology background with exceptional Excel, Power Point skills Outstanding written and verbal skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely Ability to work well under pressure, manage tight deadlines across multiple projects, and have the aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information Strong interpersonal skills, highly detail oriented, organized, pro-active, intellectual curiosity, and an ability to thrive in a high energy, dynamic environment Ability to comfortably interact with clients in the utmost professional and mature manner Outstanding ethics, integrity, and judgement Prior to the start of the internship, it is beneficial for interns to have taken finance and accounting courses or self-study. Training will be provided prior to the start of the internship. You must be work authorized in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
