By 1993, Leyland and DAF united to become LDV (short for Leyland DAF), and began to focus on specialist vehicles.
In 1999, the Nike LDV was reissued with a few tweaks.
Instead, in late 2008 the Birmingham plant was closed, and a year later the company was sold by administrators to a Chinese firm which in turn on-sold it to Shanghai Automobile and Industrial Corporation.
When GLMD gained the distribution rights in 2013, it began importing the V80 van, targeting such product as the Toyota HiAce and the Hyundai iLoad.
Imported into Australia since 2014 by Australia's largest independent automotive distributor, LDV has diversified further into additional commercial vehicles and passenger cars, including the T60 Trailrider ute and D90 7-seat family SUV.
