Lead design engineer job description

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

Translate Field Engineer (FE) needs to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system service requirements and procedures. Work with hardware, systems, and software engineers to implement Design for Service requirements. Complete Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify process improvements and safety requirements / mitigations. Develop field procedures for installation, hardware replacements, system calibration, on site troubleshooting, and remote troubleshooting. Provide support of Installed Base issues and requests. Participate in project management for service development activities. Complete service validation activities on relevant procedures. Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on limitations and challenges to Field Engineers experience.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering, and 4 years of experience in related occupation required. The position also requires: 2 years of experience with working in cross-functional relationships; 2 years of experience with technical content definition to be integrated into design; 4 years of experience with MRI hardware and debugging; 2 years of experience with leading teams on a project, sub-system, or platform initiative; 4 years of experience with servicing medical equipment; and 2 years of experience with developing service procedures and methods. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report/appear into/at the GE Precision Healthcare LLC offices in Waukesha, WI.

As a Lead Design Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and managing systems engineering processes to solidify the design and upgrades of the RS1 launch vehicle. You will drive initiatives with technical leadership and work across functions to standardize and streamline hardware and system designs, improve design and development workflows, and catch interface issues before they are released to manufacturing. You understand how to architect systems that improve design quality without the process being overburdensome. We are looking for a Lead Design Reliability Engineer who is agile, flexible and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Define, develop, and lead the implementation of numerous processes and systems, such as requirements tracking and configuration control Collaborate with technical and corporate leadership to drive operational process improvements Work with design engineers to develop and implement design and analysis best practices Provide critical peer review and approval of hardware designs during design reviews, and of acceptance and qualification test campaigns
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:5-7 year's experience with quality, systems engineering, or design engineering Strong understanding of configuration control, traceability, and requirements systems Proficiency in enterprise systems including MRP/ERP, Teamcenter, and JiraExcellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail Excellent project management and program management skills Bachelors degree in electrical, manufacturing, mechanical, material sciences, or similar engineering degree from an accredited university
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Led the development of new or improvement of established quality and systems engineering systems Thorough understanding of industry standards such as: AS9100/ISO9001, SMC-S-016, RCC-319, AIAA-S-080, AFSPCMAN 91-710, NASA-STD-5012Experience designing or analyzing hardware and systems for aircraft, launch vehicles, or spacecraft Experience in developing or executing processes for several of the following: CNC machining, additive manufacturing, bending, tube forming and fabrication, detailed or complex assemblies, welding (TIG, OTW), PCB integration and testing, harnessing

As a Lead for Chassis Steering Design, you will help define and deliver the components which control the direction of world leading electric vehicles via human and autonomous inputs. You will be viewed as a technical leader of steering system on the chassis team which will help guide the design work of your colleagues in order to develop world leading electric vehicles.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop steering components from initial concept to PPAP. Components include but are not limited to electronic power steering, steering columns, intermediate shafts and individual steering actuators Establish requirements for components based on the need of the vehicle (lateral dynamics, steering feel, crash, strength, durability, stiffness, corrosion, etc.) Plan the technology roadmap of the steering system for future vehicles Design with excellence at system and component level, with great attention to every detail Help guide and lead other members of the chassis team in their design of steering components Work closely with both internal teams and external suppliers, using creativity and teamwork to integrate multiple systems in the most efficient way possible Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities for your designs Manage multiple complex projects in a demanding environment
Qualifications5+ years of automotive industry experience, mostly focused on the steering system Personally designed steering component and/or system from concept to PPAPExperience and understanding of automotive mechatronics design and control theory Proven 3D CAD skills Hands-on practical experience in prototype assembly Experience in technology, system and supplier selection Project leadership and mentoring skills Design release engineering experience, including engineering change management and project management experience Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% if needed
