Under the direction of the Machine Shop Supervisor, the machinist sets up and operates machine tools to produce a target that matches the production orders stating customer's specifications including tolerances and density. Plans and executes assignments using a wide variety of machines such as: lathes, milling machine, drill press and bench grinder to manufacture PVD materials. May operate computer-controlled machine (CNC) and uses precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work.
Level 3 Machinist is a Sr. Machinist who has demonstrated the ability to run all machines in the machine shop.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Set up and operate machine tools such as engine lathe, drill press, milling machine, bench grinder and diamond tool grinder.

Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and job instructions to determine procedures and operational sequence and measuring devices such as: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, verniers, scales and similar tools.

Check measuring devices on a rotational basis using standards established by the Quality Assurance department.

Prepare and maintain necessary production records and reports.

Report equipment malfunctions and assists with routine maintenance and repairs.

Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.

Train new employees as needed

Assist fellow coworkers in active problem-solving.

All other duties as assigned by supervisor on a daily basis.

Operate forklift truck to load, unload and move materials. (License required.)

This person will work with the Manufacturing Manager, while being responsible to produce custom parts using waterjets, laser cutters, and various other machines. The Lead, Manufacturing Machinist will be responsible for overseeing the following areas:
· Scheduling manufacturing jobs to be produced in a timely and efficient manner
· Maintenance scheduling and record keeping
· Material receiving
· Material inventory
· Tools organization
· Shipping
· Production quality
· Spare parts tracking
· Communications with sales and customer support

In addition, as a leader you will be required to fill in as needed for front line production in the shop:
· Operation of waterjet and laser cutting machines to produce custom parts within the customer's desired specifications.
· Operation of other machines for secondary operations and finishing, such as a drill press, blasting cabinet, or surface finish machine.
· Diagnose problems and make necessary adjustments.
· Perform and lead the performing of preventive maintenance functions to drive machine uptime
· Coordinate and execute material handling to be processed including operation of a forklift.
· Record information such as number of work pieces processed, tested, machine readings and dates and times of product production.
· Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

This job is for you if you have:
· At least 3 years of relevant experience, both manufacturing and supervision
· General knowledge of shop math (fractions and decimals).
· Knowledge of inspection equipment.
· Valid Driver's license.
· Physically capable of lifting 50+ pounds.
· Self-starter, work under minimal supervision
· Highly motivated and energetic
· Highly dependable and dedicated
· Computer savvy
· Ability to operate both Laser and Waterjet machines

· High School Diploma

· Minimum of 5 years machining experience
