As a Mechanical Design Technical Lead at New Horizons Studio, you will work in a small team of talented engineers to make our vehicles move fluidly and intuitively, transforming design requirements for vehicles with up to 24 degrees of freedom into components that allow our vehicle to walk and drive over extreme terrain.
You'll join a passionate team and have high individual ownership of pieces of this challenge. Lead Diesel Mechanic Technician Duties :
- This position performs major and technically difficult diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls/rebuilds in a timely manner; ensuring quality, time standards, customer expectations, cost guidelines and reliability goals are met
- Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and will mentor other technicians on a regular basis.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and general reconditioning of equipment on Class 1 through Class 8 vehicles
- Diagnose, document, and repair engine fault codes (Company supplied OEM software) following proper warranty procedures
- Repair / Replace brakes, steering components, suspension, and perform alignments
- Replace clutches & transmissions
You Have:
- Completed technical school or equivalent experience as a fleet mechanic , diesel mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic
- 5+ years as a diesel technician
- May specialize in areas such as: refrigeration, electronics, exhaust systems, etc., and should possess a combination of extensive transportation experience, ASE certifications, and/or multiple qualifications
- Experience or formal training diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Class 1-7 diesel tractors
- The ability to acquire a Commercial Driver License with the assistance of our trainer
- Hand tools
- Ability to work Tuesday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm and Saturday 8:00am-4:30pm

I. Job Summary
Leads and conducts the repair and maintenance of heavy machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

* Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
* Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
* Repairs or replaces defective parts.
* Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
* Lubricates and cleans parts.
* Starts devices to test their performance.
* Operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
* Coordinates purchase orders for parts and machines.
* Repairs electrical equipment.
* May assist or direct less experienced mechanics as required.
