What Does A Lead Operator/Machine Operator Do At Builders Firstsource/Probuild

* Based on work order, sets up machinery, such as door boring and routing machines, ball catching machines, assembly stations, shapers, joiners, and lathes to route, bore, cut and shape components into finished goods.
* Plans and assigns work tasks among Machine Operators in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related production goals.
* Applies demonstrated skills on different types of door assembly and woodworking machines in order to increase own versatility and productivity for millwork production.
* Coordinates production and equipment maintenance schedules in order to ensure that machines are sufficient to meet assembly requirements.
* Trains new Machine Operators in the tasks involved with equipment calibration and maintenance, including actual product handling techniques, use of tools and machinery, and safety guidelines and procedures.
* May provide input
* Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
* Other duties may be assigned.
* COMPETENCIES
* Knowledge of and ability to use motorized machining and boring and other specialized manufacturing equipment
* Manual dexterity
* Knowledge of safety procedures while operating machining and boring and other specialized millwork manufacturing equipment
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
* Ability to read and understand written work orders as well as read simple diagrams or blueprints
* Knowledge of basic math, angles and use of measuring tools
* MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS
* High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and four (4) years of experience operating millwork machinery; or equivalent combination of education and experience
