Requirements

• Be able to legally work in the USA
• Be able to pass a background check and drug test
• Have reliable transportation
• Have at least 3 years of experience painting
• Have your own hand tools (Brushes, Masking equipment, Screwdrivers, Hammers, etc)
• Start shifts between 5am & 7am depending on time of year and department
• Be willing to work overtime on a regular basis and with little or no notice
• Be ready to work in a high paced environment with strict deadlines
• Be clean, professional, and respectful
• Work well with others and take direction or criticism constructively
• Be able to lift 60+ lbs multiple times in a day
• Be able to push, pull, and lift on a regular basis
• Be able to work in various positions for extended periods of time (this is PAINTING!)
• Be able to stay focused while keeping a lighthearted and positive mood

Lead the department day-to-day production and work standards activities;

Lead people with respect and build fellowship and teamwork;

Conduct Hazardous Waste and Safety Audits;

Back up for the Department Manager in the Manager's absence;

Clean hand-off of information and system to the next shift Lead

Make improvements that add value;

Lead and follow all safety and health requirements listed in applicable procedures and work instructions;

Train employees and perform observations of work and coach employees back to the standard;

Troubleshoot and work with maintenance and department personnel to determine problem (quality, productivity, and downtime) find the root cause and take the leadership role through problem solving activities;

Manage the usage of supplies, inventory, and ordering of supplies used in the Paint Room;

Interact with other departments to prevent and/or solve problems;

Communicate with the Paint Manager and relay instructions to others in the department;

Perform duties as assigned by Paint Manager to efficiently meet production schedules and OTIF deliveries;

Emphasizes the requirement of safe working practices on the Paint Line;

Develop and maintain a good relationship with internal suppliers, promoting a teamwork environment;

Lead daily management meeting, track metrics and create improvement plans. Qualifications Job Requirements:

Must have an excellent understanding of the Paint process and equipment;

Knowledge of Kawneer products;

Excellent communication skills;

Excellent decision making and leadership skills;

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook (e-mail) and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel);

Working knowledge of JDE shop floor reporting screens;

Active support and leadership for ABS tools and concepts;

Exhibit safe working practices.

Responsibilities

Install, repair and maintain painting components:

• 
  
• Applies protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, lacquer and related materials to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, furniture, equipment and other property
• 
  
• Prepares surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, torching and/or smoothing prior to applying finishing materials
• 
  
• Installs, repairs, and maintains drywall, wall texturing, vinyl wall coverings and ceiling acoustic texturing
• 
  
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
• 
  
• Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations
• 
  
• Inspects quality of all applications, ensuring customer satisfaction
• 
  
• Monitors productivity and efficient use/disposal of materials and project waste
• 
  
• Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition
• 
  
• Maintains existing paint surfaces by matching/tinting appropriate paint products. Determines appropriate color for new or replacement applications through consultation with customers
• 
  
• Maintains equipment and keeps work areas clean and safe. Properly stores, cleans and disposes of all supplies and equipment used according to departmental policies and procedures
• 
  
• Safely handles and appropriately disposes of paints, stains, preparatory and undercoating materials and other hazardous materials
• 
  
• Operates compressors, striping machines, sandblasters, spray equipment, and other small power equipment
• 
  
• Operates heavy lift equipment including scissors, and boom swing stage to heights of 80 feet
• 
  
• Erects various types of scaffolding, staging, ladders, and planks to reach surfaces of work area for Painters and others
• 
  
• Creation and application of graphics and signage layouts according to DOT, Safety, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements to meet state and federal regulations
• 
  

Qualifications

Education:

• 
  
• High School diploma or GED by date of hire
• 
  
• Completion of a three year federally approved technical training program in painting preferred
• 
  

License/Certification:

• 
  
• Valid driver’s license required
• 
  

Experience:

• 
  
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience of commercial painting and vinyl wall covering required
• 
  
• Prior experience stewarding projects and direct quality assurance with customers required
