The Quality Response Team members are essential in driving quality processes at Express Scripts Pharmacy. They are responsible in mitigating quality related events and researching quality related issues that would affect overall pharmacy DPMO. What you'll do:
Monitor automation lanes and support bottle spotting teams to identify potential quality issues with automated dispensing.
Respond to floor calls for quality related issues in pharmacy including automation, manual dispensing, warehouse, and packing departments.
Research patient medication events.
Collaborate with all departments and research operational issues that can impact building operation and quality.
Research in house quality events and report findings out to Director of Pharmacy Practice and relevant/impacted departments.
Document and manage quality audit process for all departments/shifts.
Assist in development, documentation, and updating of Standard Operating Procedures
Assist in training/development of other team members
Demonstrate leadership quality consistent with Cigna Values.
What you need to do the job:
High school diploma or GED required
Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and licensed in the state of Indiana
At least three years' experience in a pharmacy dispensing setting required
Exposure to quality based responsibilities a plus.
General PC knowledge and skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within dispensing pharmacy
Strong attention to detail with good organizational skills
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, learn quickly, solve problems and make decisions
Ability and desire to assist team members

About this Role
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will provide virtual (primarily telephonic) support for Medicaid patients. You will partner with Waymark clinical pharmacists to help patients access medications, address barriers to medication non-adherence, access relevant durable medical equipment (DME), and elevate prescription needs to providers. You will report to the Clinical Pharmacist Lead in Illinous state.
You will interact with patients through telehealth modalities (SMS and phone) as part of a broader team that includes community health workers who see patients in person and support patients in addressing social determinants of health, therapists who provide mental health counseling, and care coordinators who work closely with care providers and community-based organizations to support wrap-around services. You will also work closely with the Waymark clinical pharmacist to provide interventions in primary care that help patients overcome challenges gaining access to, and appropriately taking, their medications.
Key Responsibilities
Perform telephonic and SMS outreach to patients and providers/pharmacies to address medication access issues, medication non-adherence or other drug utilization activities to improve patient and quality outcomes. Outreach may also include addressing medication-related and disease control-related HEDIS gaps.
Coordinate patient medication needs with a multidisciplinary team including community health workers (CHW's), care coordinators, and therapists.
Coordinate with external healthcare providers and Waymark care team to provide accurate and timely information on medications.
Facilitate medication access including answering, resolving and triaging inbound inquiries in collaboration with the Clinical Pharmacist Lead.
Facilitate timely responses to internal Waymark requests for pharmacy team assistance by obtaining and documenting medication information and verifying eligibility, formulary, benefits and allergy information as requested by the Waymark Pharmacist Lead.
Communicate with patients and healthcare providers to assist in completing medication prior authorizations, navigate formulary changes, manage side effects, and identify therapeutic substitutions in conjunction with Waymark and primary care teams.
Provide accurate and timely documentation to ensure productivity and quality metrics are met.
Actively participate in innovation with an evolving startup environment by identifying trends, resolving problems, recommending improvements, and implementing process improvement changes, applying observations and recommendations to resolve operational issues, increasing productivity and quality, and achieving excellent customer experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Current Illinois State Pharmacy Technician License in good standing.
PTCB CPhT Certification.
2 or more years experience working in outpatient/primary care/clinic-based, or managed care settings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Requirements:
* High School Diploma or GED
* Tennessee state Pharmacy Technician licensure in good standing
* Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or equivalent) in good standing
* Strong knowledge of pharmacy calculations and sig codes, and commonly prescribed medications
* Minimum of 1 year of experience in a specialty pharmacy setting
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in any of the follow settings: retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or pharmacy call center
* Basic knowledge and navigational skills of Microsoft Office programs (Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
* Strong problem-solving and investigative skills
* Strong customer service and verbal and written communication skills
Desired Experience:
* Proficiency in navigating TherigySTM specialty pharmacy management software highly preferred
* Proficiency in eClinicalWorks highly preferred
* Proficiency in PioneerRx pharmacy software highly preferred
* Proficiency in navigating prior authorization hub CoverMyMeds and experience in prior authorization processing
* Previous call center experience preferably in a healthcare and/or pharmacy setting
* Preferred Bachelors and/or post graduate degree
* 5+ years' work experience in a specialty pharmacy setting
* 5+ years' work experience in a retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or pharmacy call center setting

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed in a structured pharmacy setting. Physical demands include being required to walk throughout the clinic, pharmacy, lifting items up to 20 pounds, experiencing long periods of sitting and standing, and frequent use of computer, keyboard, headset, and phone.
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
In the event of inclement weather, the Specialty Pharmacy Technician may be expected to provide call center and pharmacy support virtually. Appropriate equipment will be provided in order for tasks such as receiving inbound calls, prescription inputting, etc. to be performed remotely.
