About the Position
Brynmor opened its first site in Lorton, VA at Liberty Market in the fall of 2023. We are seeking many Early Childhood Educators for our Infant, Toddler and Preschool pods. Educators will work as a team with the Early Childhood Educator Team Leads to open and lead our flagship location serving 156 children ages six weeks through five years. The candidates will provide Brynmor with an innovative advantage by identifying and implementing promising new ways of delivering exceptional care and experiences to our children, their families and our team. Our Early Childhood Educators will be responsible for the daily health, safety, well-being, development and learning of young children in their care. Qualifications:

Familiarity with COR Advantage Assessment and Brightwheel childcare management is welcomed.
Familiarity with Reggio Emilia approaches and practices is welcomed.
Fluency in multiple languages is welcomed.

The United Way Neighborhood Zone at Columbia seeks to work alongside partners and residents to strengthen the communities of Howard County by utilizing a community informed approach. Integral to this strategy is the United Way Family Center at Columbia, which will provide early childhood education as well as supportive services to Center engaged families. This is a new Center with a capacity of 76 children ages 8 weeks through 4 years old.
In accordance with the needs of the ages of the population, the Childcare Lead Teacher is responsible for the daily planning, management and supervision of the classroom and children. The Teacher will work in coordination with the Child Development Specialist, Family Services Coordinator and Childcare Aide. This position is a full-time, non-exempt 12-month position.

Duties
1.Teaching a class of children in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the center.This includes:
Treating each child with dignity and respect
Planning activities that will encourage each child’s growth in the areas of emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development.
Recognizing and considering the individual needs of each child in relation to cultural and socio-economic background, handicaps, special talents and interests, style and pace of learning.
2.Be responsible for a prepared, safe learning environment.This includes;
being able to communicate clearly, both in verbal and written form,
maintaining a weekly parent newsletter,
working towards a normalized classroom at all times,
knowing and delivering Montessori lessons in sequential order,
delivering Montessori lessons with the aim of promoting coordination, concentration, independence and order,
planning curriculum lesson topics for the whole year for the class and Kindergarten lessons for extended day,
preparing the environment daily so that it is inviting and appealing to the children (this will include changing the materials regularly),
promoting positive discipline in the classroom so that there is respect for each other, and
3.Being responsible for reporting to the administration any equipment repairs or replacements needed, maintenance needed in the room or elsewhere in the building or on the playground, and supplies that need to be reordered.
4.Planning and carrying out conferences with the parents of the children in the class.Keeping records on the children’s development.
5.Generally promoting a good rapport among staff members.
6.Attending all staff meetings and programs sponsored by the center.
