Description:

In collaboration with the clinical team and under the department leader, the Lead Dosimetrist supports the activities of the dosimetry group, including personnel coverage calendar and daily operations. With the department leader, the Lead Dosimetrist will coordinate patient plan assignments, lead/support new initiatives and provide technical guidance to peer dosimetrists. Additional duties are to participate and present in contour/chart rounds at the discretion of the department leader. The Lead Dosimetrist supports and adheres to BHSF safety and compliance programs including, OSHA, HIPAA and the BHSF Code of Ethics.

Hybrid Remote

Estimated salary range for this position is $110,404.00 - $143,520.00 / year depending on experience.

Qualifications:

Degrees: Bachelors Licenses & Certifications: MDCB Certified Medical Dosimetrist Additional Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a physical science or RTT and/or a graduate of a JRCERT-accredited dosimetry program. A M.Sc. is preferred. Direct dosimetry experience and Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) certified required. RTT experience from an accredited radiation therapy technology program is preferred. Experience with multiple treatment planning platforms, excellent communication skills, well-organized, meticulous and good technical skills is preferred. Responsibilities

Lead assigned staff in performing activities or tasks in radiation therapy services.

  • Lead or coordinate shift operations of assigned activities, resources, and/or associates.
  • Serve as a technical or functional resource and perform similar duties with staff.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiation Therapy credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiation Therapist obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of experience required.

  • Performs all work of the Radiation Therapist as needed.
    • 4) Assures a safe, clean and sanitary environment for patients and personnel.
    • 5) Assists the physician in localizing tumor volumes using radiographic techniques.

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to cooperate and work well with others Ability to make sound and timely decisions. Resilient and flexible in a changing environment Self-motivated. Must be able to lift 20lbs. repeatedly. Standard precautions for Radiation Safety as per IEMA Standard precautions for dealing with body substances and hazardous materials. Able to take call as assigned. This position will need to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, insurance needs and effective communication with our non-English speaking population, i.e., look for signs of normal aging; making sure all insurance has been verified and appropriate authorization/referrals have been obtained prior to start of treatment; utilizing interpreter resources/services when needed.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 01/01/2016. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
