The Role
The LeadTeacher plans and implements the daily curriculum for children in the classroom. Curriculum activities are designed to promote each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The teacher directs and coordinates each child's personal care, hygiene, learning activities, specialized programs, and positive guidance. Maintenance of the classroom records, developmental checklists, and progress reports are integral components of the teacher's curriculum duties. Communicating with parents concerning their child's progress, offering parent-teacher conferences, and timely updates is another important aspect of the teacher's duties. The teacher should always ensure that the classroom is consistently clean and safe, adhering to all state, local, and company's regulatory rules and regulations.

Understands and implements all current state and local regulations.
Understands and implements emergency procedures in case of emergency situations. Can administer CPR/First Aid, including lifting and carrying injured children. Uses proper lifting procedures and seeks assistance if necessary.
Participates in emergency and evacuation drills to promote safety of children in their care.
Maintains educational materials and equipment by keeping a well-organized and safe classroom.
Immediately notifies the Director of needed repairs in the classroom, in the building, and on the playground to equipment and toys.
Observes, records, and reports to the Director any significant individual or group behavior that might affect the well-being of children enrolled at the center.

This is a perfect job for K12 certified classroom teachers with summers off who want to teach children various types of new technology. Assistant Instructors are often undergraduate students wanting to gain more experience working with children and/or technology in a classroom setting. Lead Instructors are adults who are responsible for the well-being and education of the students. A lead instructor may have either a degree/experience in education or significant experience in one of the content areas. They must have a strong understanding of the course concepts being taught as well as any techniques and software involved. Classroom management skills are preferred. Assistant Instructors are expected to be a support to the Lead Instructor as well as to the students.
Upon completion of the Black Rocket training program, instructors must demonstrate competency in the core concepts and software used. In addition to teaching responsibilities, lead instructors are also responsible for the supervision of staff, equipment management, and enforcement of site policies. Training is provided and begins in spring 2026. This is a seasonal position. Experience with technology preferred, but not required.

18 years of age or older.
Able to commit to a full week of work, M-F, approximately 8:30 - 4:30.
College students studying education, computer science, digital arts, information technology, or in similar fields are encouraged to apply.
Those with strong tech or digital arts and troubleshooting skills will be most successful in this position.
Experience with kids in a formal or informal setting is a plus, such as babysitting, volunteering, coaching, tutoring, etc.

Provides students with regular prompts, adequate supervision, tutoring support, teacher engagement, and other types of support for a special education setting.
Maintains compliance with DOE, DCS, and accreditation regulations for AELC, including student-to-teacher ratio.
Document student progress and advocate for student needs to include conducting education conferences, interventions for the student, and attending other professional meetings as needed.
Implements instructional practices for instruction and RTI.
Participates in 1:1 supervision meetings and AELC team meetings in accordance with protocol and documentation standards.
Conducts stand-up instruction as needed and supports student engagement on computer-based learning experiences.
Attends in-service workshops and professional conferences as required or as needed to maintain professional teacher certification in TN and annual training requirements. Provides adequate planning to support an active and educational summer school program and programming during other public school breaks.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a certified teacher (Bachelor's Degree minimum) in the state of Tennessee.

Must be able to collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of teachers, counselors, therapists, and community stakeholders, collaborating to provide a holistic, wrap-around approach to student success.
