GENERAL SUMMARY:
A full-time seasonal position reporting to the Summer Camp Director. Language Immersion Teachers are at the heart of this award-winning and dynamic summer camp. Teacherslead groups of 8-16 campers in explorations of language and culture in Spanish, Mandarin, or Japanese. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to planning and implementing curriculum, as related to session themes; managing classroom behavior and creating a safe, welcoming, child-friendly environment; managing and directing teacher's aide and floating aides; ensuring that children are supervised 100% of the time they are at camp; communicating with parents, camp director, and other staff. Other duties include supervising campers in the classroom, on the playground, on field trips, and with specialist teachers; communicating with families and camp director; assisting with special events; helping distribute materials, and assisting with teaching, when appropriate; advocating and promoting the camp; and working collegially with administrators and fellow teachers.

Lead Position Summary:
The LeadTeacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. LeadTeachers must understand childrens cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The LeadTeacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide the teaching team, and resolve parent/guardian concerns.
The LeadTeachers in our program serve as the Site Director and must remain on the premises during all hours of operation. This position will work in collaboration with the Multi-Site Coordinators to ensure standards set by the Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC), the Environmental Health Authority, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Preschool Promise (PSP) and Preschool For All (PFA) are met and maintained.
REQUIRED AVAILABILITY
7:00 am - 3:30 pm (Actual schedule will vary based on workload, additional hours will be required as needed)
Staff may be required to administer medication or be trained to do so by an RN nurse through the PFA program.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year experience working in a Certified Childcare Center with students ages 3-5 years old - will be verified.
Previous experience teaching in a setting that focuses on inclusion and supporting students with individual needs ranging from low-support to high-support needs.
Must be at least 18 years of age
Minimum ORO step 8
Must meet the following criteria:
(A) At least a bachelors degree in: (i) Early childhood education or a field related to early childhood education; or (ii) A field not related to early childhood education, but teacher has completed coursework that is equivalent to a major in early childhood education and has sufficient training in early childhood education as determined by the Division; or
(B) An associates degree with additional training or additional certification in early childhood education or a field related to early childhood education, as determined by the Division; or

Must be available during the after school hours at least 4 days per week. Our preference is availability 5 days a week, for our peak program weeks during the fall, winter and spring sessions (semesters). We will ensure that you have a full Monday-Friday after school schedule during our peak program weeks, provided that we have classes scheduled for that day. Actual class start time will vary, depending on the assignment. Most of our classes begin directly after each school's afternoon dismissal bell, which are usually between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Our standard program time is one hour. Teachers must arrive 15 minutes prior to the program start time to set up and prepare, and stay until all students have been safely dismissed to an authorized adult. THE POSITION
The Children's Ministry Teacher will join a team of staff that holistically cares for up to 25 children (birth-age 12) and their mothers through a variety of interactions all contributing towards a whole-family approach to healing and growth. This individual will support the Children's Center by creating a Christ-centered, school-like environment for the children while increasing social, language, and motor skills that may be delayed due to environmental factors. Utilizing trauma-informed classroom principles, this role will work with mothers, children, volunteers, and community resources to assist children in development of spiritual, educational, and emotional. growth. Emphasis is placed on building self-esteem, strengthening social skills, and experiencing healthy relationships, with a goal of building connection and trust.
THE ESSENTIALS
* Create a Christ-centered, school-like environment for the children while increasing social, language, and motor skills that may be delayed due to environmental factors
* Support mothers living at Shepherd's Door with their children as they walk through learning new life skills centered around parenting, how to work with schools and other outside agencies, and how to grow and heal as a family unit
* Create a healthy atmosphere by teaching a playful, joyful, and Christlike lifestyle for families living at Shepherd's Door
* Create, prepare, and implement age-appropriate lesson plans
* Direct and train additional classroom staff, volunteers, and program participants serving in Children's Center vocation
* Complete quarterly evaluations of onsite participant children's age-level developmental benchmarks to identify potential delays or concerns
* Collaborate with outside agencies that support children reaching their benchmarks
* Provide observation of child visits on an as-needed basis
* Maintain a well-organized, clean, colorful, and joyful classroom and playground environment
* Clearly and appropriately share the Gospel with women and children through Bible lessons, worship, and answering questions
BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS
* A passionate relationship with Jesus Christ and a testimony of continued growth in faith

* College degree in related field or experience equivalent
* Knowledge of trauma-informed classroom principles

* Valid driver's license and ability to drive large vans for field trips
* Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., sit on and rise up from the floor, and quickly physically engage with children unassisted
