What Does A Lead Tutor Do At Youth Policy Institute

* Assist Site Coordinator with day-to-day operations of the afterschool program
* Facilitate activities with groups of twenty students
* Assist students with homework, academic enrichment, recreation, and the arts
* Represent the mission of the YPI at every site
* Supervise all participants to ensure a safe learning environment and organized program
* Supervise playground activity but not engaging in the play
* Must maintain accurate daily attendance records and ensure that students sign in and out each day
* Attend weekly and/or bi-weekly staff meetings and trainings
* Assist with the planning of school events
* Prepare educational lesson plans
* Develop and implement enrichment clubs
* Adhere to tutor/student boundaries as outlined in Code of Conduct
* Adhere to workplace safety guidelines
* Attend required staff meetings, trainings and events on and off-site
* Must wear YPI uniform while on duty
* Some evenings and/or weekends may be required
* Perform other duties as assigned

What Does A Lead Tutor Do At The New York Public Library

* Reporting to the HGB Education Fellow, the Lead Tutor will:
* Manage and advise our college student Tutors, providing weekly check-ins to discuss any student or tutor related issues or concerns;
* Collaborate with BridgeUp staff to develop and teach mini-lessons that enhance students'understanding of basic core concepts across disciplines;
* Meet with the HGB Education Fellow to discuss student progress, resource needs, planning, etc
* Provide insight into academic needs of students and suggest strategies for addressing areas of student concern (i.e., learning, classroom behavior, etc.)
* Develop positive relationships with students that foster their academic and personal growth
* Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to provide them with academic tutoring to improve their understanding of math, reading, social studies and/or science, at all levels
* Use best practices when tutoring students and managing classroom
* Monitor students and maintain a safe learning environment during program activities
* Attend required meetings and trainings
* Performs other duties assigned

What Does A Lead Tutor Do At Youth Policy Institute

* Manage day-to-day operations of the after school program
* Supervise staff of 4 to 10 tutors, athletics and/or enrichment instructors
* Train and supervise staff in the after school program
* Organize schedule of academic, recreation, and enrichment activities
* Organize and facilitate after school program events and field trips
* Establish and maintain communication with regular day and after school staff, school administrators, YPI staff, students and families regarding all aspects of student involvement in the program
* Recruit students to ensure daily attendance requirements are sufficient
* Follow school and YPI procedures and policies for safe operation of after school program
* Assist in conducting surveys for periodic program evaluations, including surveys of students, staff and parents
* Collect, review, approve and submit timesheets by the deadline
* Submit all required documentation on a timely basis, including attendance, snack counts, emergency cards, permission forms, and surveys
* Represent the mission of YPI to provide quality educational and enrichment experiences for students
* Travel to staff meetings, school meetings, and trainings as scheduled and required
* Basic knowledge of A
* G requirements, SAT/PSAT deadlines, and college resources on-site
* Ensure college/career curriculums are implemented once a month
* High school English and math tutoring experience (advanced math tutoring a plus)
* Maintain accurate records (i.e., attendance, student registration forms, staff sign-in sheets, etc.)
* Maintain documentation relating to staff performance issues; provide guidance to staff as needed
* Pick-up and issue paychecks on pay day
* Adhere to workplace safety guidelines
* Evaluate work site for safety concerns to minimize workplace injuries
* Make recommendations for workplace safety
* Report workplace injuries via appropriate forms
* Implement YPI policies and procedures
* Performs other duties as assigned
