The site lead for the program reports to the Program Manager and is responsible for providing operational and program support. This position will be the lead personnel for their specific location and responsible for successful completion of all tasks as designated by the Program Manager. This position will be an asset designed to supplement Federal and State partners' and first responders' existing CBRN detection and reporting capabilities in support of national and other special security events. Deployment without advance notification may be required. This position must have experience with radiological/nuclear detection instrumentation. This position is contract award dependent. RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties will include but are not limited to the following. Initiate, organize and report on all program planning and management taskings. Ability to deploy equipment when needed. This requires transporting detection equipment via towable trailer to various locations as designated by the client. Coordinate, initiate and track the progress of deployments of the assigned equipment. Ensuring detection equipment is repaired, calibrated, and maintained in a ready state for deployment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Reports to: Area Supervisor Direct Reports: N/A JOB SUMMARY: As the Lead Locate Technician, you will be responsible for assisting the Area Supervisor in day-to-day operations with locating technicians operating within specific geographic areas. You will assist the Area Supervisor in ensuring that all projects are completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with safety regulations and 811 laws. Your responsibilities will include assisting with private locates and serving as a fill-in for the Private Locate Lead when they are unavailable. This position requires a combination of leadership, technical expertise, customer relations, and excellent communication skills to drive excellence within the team. KEY RESPONSABILITIES: Locating underground utilities for clients and property owners based on job scope. Efficiently maintaining daily assigned routes. Marking all underground utilities on both public and private tickets. Using cell phone-based apps to record locating marks for client's property for excavators and property owners. App holds photos and enables locators to complete all documents needed for locate. Filling in for Supervisor when they are out of the office or unavailable. Managing employees' clock-ins/outs, ticket areas, workload, and communication. Interfacing daily with clients regarding locates and concerns. Communicating and assigning tickets to locators as needed. Assisting with trouble shooting difficult locates and scheduling meet ups. Thoroughly reading and acknowledging emails and text messages. Supporting team members with daily issues/concerns related to utility locating. Assisting in employee yearly reviews. Performing damage investigations as needed. Assist with private locates as needed. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Attention to detail. Willingness to travel (75%+). Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Expertise in locate industry. Ability to maintain a consistent teamwork mentality. Knowledge of Northern Lights policies. Maintain a positive attitude and morale. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to compose and structure emails, documents, etc. clearly and concisely. Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screen. Valid Driver's License and the ability to obtain a DOT physical certification. Participation in the after-hours on-call rotation. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Preferred experience in underground utility locating. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Proficiency in reading utility maps. Ability to present professionally and foster a learning environment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Required 40+ hours per week, primarily in the field at site ticket locations. Dayshift work primarily, with occasional alternative shift work. Hourly position requiring more than 40 hours to complete responsibilities. Exposure to dust, dirt, foul odors, irritating noises, extreme weather conditions, and other safety hazards. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, equipment, fumes, airborne particles, high places, toxic chemicals, and electrical shock risk. Loud noise level environments. Employees are expected to have, utilize, maintain, and wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by Northern Lights Locating, the client and any other applicable regulatory agency or management directive.
