Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge of system design, applicable codes and cGMP's as they affect process design and equipment specification.

What You'll Do
Epic Games is searching for an experienced Concept Outsource Lead to support and supervise creative content provided by outsource partners as part of our collaboration with Disney. Reporting to the individual art lead(s) and working with the Outsource Manager, the Concept Outsource Lead will provide front-line creative feedback for work submitted for Epic review. Though part of the role will be supervisory, the individual should be an experienced concept artist, having worked in game studio pipelines before, and have a solid hands-on art background. The ideal candidate would be a talented concept artist who understands world building, environment, character and FX art and is able to communicate with outsource partners, including documenting existing pipelines, collecting or creating quality bar and technical example assets, collecting photo reference, creating mood boards, creating paint overs, and finally collaborating with other teams at Epic to ensure that concept art is of the highest quality and adequately supports the needs of those teams and the project.
In this role, you will
Work closely with the individual Epic Art Leads and project Art Director, Outsource Manager(s), and artists on the team to support external vendors
Communicate the Rt direction vision to the vendors and make sure the art generated is consistent in tone and meets epics high standards
Create various concept designs for environments, character and FX that exist within the Fortnite ecosystem
Collect or generate detailed documentation, video reference, and examples of art asset production, procedures, and engine requirements to support the external vendors
If required, make any needed fixes to keep assets consistent and technically game ready as they're handed off from the outsource partner
Clearly communicate feedback to the outsource partner, and ensure those creative notes and goals are met. Inform leadership in the event that isn't happening
Communicate and partner with internal Epic art staff to ensure that outsource concept art is clear and respects limitations from other disciplines
What we're looking for
Portfolio that demonstrates a range of styles, creativity and craftsmanship developing a broad range of visual development. From environments to characters to FX, the work should show strong creativity, aesthetics and stylization with the ability to create strong world building visuals
A keen eye for anatomy, architecture, color theory, composition and FX with an understanding of how the art translates downstream to production groups
Worked on at least one AAA game in a Senior Concept Artist role
An effective communicator, collaborator, and problem solver able to coordinate between internal and external teams and deliver clear and concise feedback
Excellent organizational skills and ability to accurately estimate tasks and maintain schedules
Understanding of other game art disciplines, their workflows and limitations (animation, character, environment, VFX)
