General Position Summary
Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Leader III will assist in the planning and implementation of assigned programs, provide direct leadership and serves as the on-site lead staff person.
Essential Functions

Provides inspired and enthusiastic leadership, support, and mentoring on-site for program participants.

Serves as lead staff for assigned programs.
Takes lead in selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating program part time staff and volunteers.
Prepares staff and volunteer work schedules.

Monitors participants' behavior to assure a positive and safe program environment.
Provides transportation using City van for after-school and trip programs.
Sets up and takes down rooms for program implementation; provides facility clean-up as needed.
Submits weekly reports.
Completes facility and/or vehicle safety check prior to each program occurrence.
Checks school facility condition following programs held on school sites.
Assists with marketing of programs
Delivers and distributes program-related promotional materials.
Conducts program evaluations and/or related participant quality assurance measures.
Administers First Aid/CPR for minor injuries; follows Department procedures for all accidents and incidents.
Maintains inventory, demonstrates safe use, and recommends purchase of program supplies.
Operates appropriate office equipment.
Communicates effectively orally and in writing to a wide variety of internal and external customers.
Monitors budget and expenditures for assigned programs.
Researches, recruits, and coordinates community partners to supplement programs.
Coordinates registration and payments with City of Burien Customer Service Representatives.
Develops content, schedules, and leads regular intermittent staff meetings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Secondary Functions
Assists participants with program registration requests.
Assists Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department staff with special events as needed.
Attends training workshops as required.
Serves on and participates in various employee committees.
Education and/or Experience
One year of experience leading or teaching youth programs, with one year of college coursework in Recreation, Education and/or related field. Any equivalent combination of education, training, experience, knowledge, and abilities which would allow an individual to perform the duties of the position will be considered. Bi-lingual preferred.
Special Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
Valid First Aid and Child and Adult CPR Certification within 60 days of hire.

Leads/performs the completion process of work orders generated from resident requests for service, as well as preventative maintenance on the property by diagnosing the source or cause of the defect or problem, and making repairs in accordance with established policies, timelines, procedures, safety standards, and code requirements under the supervision of the Area Maintenance Manager.

4. Leads/performs the completion process for all inspections by monitoring Leonardo 247, Entrata, and all other platforms required to complete all current inspections as well as any future property or unit inspections required by code, regulation, or policy.
5. Completes documentation and other paperwork in a timely, accurate, and complete fashion so that service requests can be appropriately documented and tracked.
6. Leads/performs in maintaining the grounds, common areas, and amenities by picking up trash and debris, pressure-washing breezeways and pool areas, performing general cleaning, and painting curbs and signage as needed.
7. Supports cost-cutting and expense control programs by fixing rather than replacing parts when possible, not being wasteful with materials and supplies, and practicing the correct use for tools and equipment.
