Rutgers University-Newark is an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Unit Administrator/Specialist - Learning Specialist. Reporting directly to the Director, Rutgers Learning Center ( RLC ), School of Arts & Sciences, Newark, provides learning assistance to students through personalized programs of academic self-improvement, in group workshops, one-on-one consultations, and remote sessions. Collaborates with Director and campus office to create programming to support students' learning, success, and retention, utilizing best practices in the field. Provides routine and non-routine information and explanations to all clients of the Learning Center, including students, faculty, administrators and visitors. Maintains accurate records on individual and group users. Interacts with academic departments and offices, advisors, and student service programs; conducts outreach presentations on RLC services and learning strategies. May represent the RLC on campus as an ambassador for learning assistance program. Through tutoring and academic coaching, the RLC provides academic support to improve the academic performance, persistence, and success of RU-N undergraduate students. The RLC provides approximately 5000 hours of tutoring to on average 700 to 800 students, and academic coaching in various forms to approximately 400 students per academic year. Must perform all duties in accordance with and knowledge of, administration of, and compliance with all policies, procedures, and processes of RLC , SASN , RU-N, Rutgers, and any and all relevant external regulations. Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor and multitask in a fast-paced, student and service-focused, team environment; to complete work with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the Center, SASN , and RU-N; and to complete the tasks and responsibilities of this position with an understanding of how it contributes to the achievement of these goals.
Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a bachelor's degree in education, communication, psychology, student personnel services, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or two years of relevant experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding in collegiate learning strategies and methodologies for individuals and groups.

The Learning Specialist, Clinical Informaticist is knowledgeable in the use of the electronic health record (EHR) and health information technology (HIT) applied to clinical care and health care business operations. They are responsible for teaching (delivering content to users) and producing EHR and HIT mission critical learning content across multiple formats including (but not limited to) web-based learning, instructor-led training, blended instruction solutions, and virtual instructor-led sessions. This role uses tools like Ancile uPerform, Microsoft Office 365, and learning management systems and are proficient in the use of the EHR/HIT as applied to multiple roles and care settings. The Learning Specialist ensures customer-service excellence in all interactions and delivers course content using professional presentation skills and interactive techniques appropriate to adult learners.

Learning Specialist, Clinical Informaticist Overview
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Use informatics concepts, methods, and tools to promote safe, effective, and optimal use of technologies and are focused on the interaction of people, processes, and technology for the complete and accurate delivery of information needed for efficient, high quality and safe patient care.Teach and facilitate delivery of training content that engages learners and aligns with identified outcomes and adult learning principles.Collaborate across clinical informatics teams, analytics, information technology, practice and education, and operational teams to meet goals and deliver training content.Team with informatics, Information Technology (IT), and operational colleagues to assess, plan, and evaluate changes to systems and identify the impact to clinical workflows to plan for associated learning and training needs.Acquire and maintain knowledge of EHR/HIT use across multiple service lines, domains, care settings, Epic modules, and environments.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in health care or related field from an accredited program, informatics degree from an accredited institution or combination of education and experience.A minimum of 1 year clinical healthcare experience and/or 1 year informatics-related experience working in a health system directly with end users.A minimum of 1 year teaching curriculum and/or 1 year facilitating and producing virtual training. Understanding of clinical care workflows, health care operations, and have a working knowledge of computer systems lifecycle management Maintain current Epic certification(s)/credential(s) per vendor requirements as identified by manager/director.Obtain and/or maintain Epic certification/credentialing as identified by manager/director within 6 months of start date.

Preferred
Masters or Doctoral level degree in Instructional Design, informatics, or operational leadership Epic EHR use, implementations, upgrades, and/or build Industry-level certifications such as AACN, HIMSS, Lean, Master Instructional Designer, Master Trainer, Virtual Training Design, Virtual Training Certificate, etc.
