1917

After renovating his home in 1917, François changed the company logo.

1940

In 1940, Laborer and Stitcher were the top reported jobs for men and women in the USA named Leclerc.

1949

1949: Edouard Leclerc opens his first store.

1958

By 1958, the Leclerc name was found on more than 50 stores.

1959

1959: Company opens its first Paris-area store.

1960

In 1960, the group launched a campaign to circumvent the distribution monopolies then in place, organizing protests by farmers in Paris to demand the right to sell directly to Leclerc, without having to go through a third-party.

1962

1962: An association among Leclerc store owners is formed.

1964

1964: Company opens its first hypermarket.

1970

In 1970, the remaining Leclerc store owners reorganized their association as the cooperative Groupement d'Achat des Centres E. Leclerc, or GALEC.

1972

In 1972, the first legislation designed to restrict the growth of the hypermarket trend in France--inspired in an attempt to protect the small merchant as the larger retail groups captured a greater and greater share of the retail market--threatened the growth of the Leclerc cooperative.

1975

In 1975, Leclerc began organizing its own direct-purchasing facilities in cooperation with a number of independent fishing groups.

1976

In 1976, Leclerc began opening its own gasoline stations, making purchases from independent oil companies outside of France, and cutting the price on a liter of gas.

1978

In 1978 the group bought up a slaughtering facility in Brittany, then built a pork processing facility, France's largest, while also opening a salted meats plant to supply up to one-third of the cooperatives needs.

1991

The company also created its own brand of clothing, Tissaia, in 1991.

1992

1992: The first Leclerc in Spain is opened.

1994

Making Jules Bianchi the only Formula One related death since Ayrton Senna’s death at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

1996

1996: Company opens its first Leclercs in Poland and Portugal.

1997

Charles Leclerc was born on the 16th of October 1997, making him 24 years of age at the time of writing and a Libra as per the Western Zodiac.

In 1997, it launched its own label, the Marque Repere, countering the private labels introduced by its competitors.

2000

Born on the 14th of October 2000, Arthur Leclerc is the youngest of the three Leclerc brothers and a successful kart racer in his own right.

In 2000, the company began to eye new means of encouraging its international expansion.

2003

The new logo, created in 2003, highlights the company’s longevity, while retaining the heart symbol as the dominant feature of the Leclerc brand image.

2015

Charles Leclerc went to École de Fontvieille (Fontvieille Primary School) in Monaco and later joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2015.

2018

Fifth place at the French F4 Championship with two race wins (2018),

2019

In his first season as a driver for Ferrari in 2019, Charles Leclerc achieved his first win at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa.

2020

Despite his channel being praised for its high production value and met with a positive response from fans, the channel has only posted three videos since its inception – with no activity being reported on the channel since 2020.

2022

Having recently signed an extension to his contract with Ferrari for the 2022 season, as well as his increased appearance through endorsements and social media platforms, there’s no doubt there will be even more excitement and news from Charles Leclerc; for years to come!
