Our origins can be traced to 1916 when a group of community leaders set aside $300 and donated lumber from the dismantled courthouse, to build the first hospital in Fort Myers.
In 1965, the hospital was built and began serving the community of Lehigh Acres, located 20 miles east of Fort Myers.
As a result of the increase in residents and visitors, the hospital expanded in 1971.
And, in December of 1983, our modern 88-bed hospital opened with state-of-the-art equipment and a dedicated team of employees, nurses and physicians.
Always keeping the needs of the community at the forefront, in 1998 the hospital’s Emergency Room was completely renovated from a four-room unit to a nine-bed state-of-the art Emergency Services Department.
