LEESON Electric company history timeline

1972

Leeson Electric Corp. was founded by Lee Doerr’s two sons in 1972.

1974

They began manufacturing Electric Motors in 1974.

1975

In June 1975, LEESON moved production from a rented facility to a plant in Grafton, Wisconsin.

1977

The company established LEESON Canada in 1977.

1985

In 1985, LEESON acquired Unison Dynamics, a company that manufactured DC permanent magnet 48- and 56-frame motors.

1988

LEESON purchased Motronics Corporation in 1988.

1995

In 1995, LEESON grew further with the acquisition of Gear Systems, Inc.

1999

Regal-Beloit, based in Beloit, Wis., had 1999 sales of $544.6 million.

2000

Regal Rexnord (then Regal Beloit) purchased LEESON in September 2000.

2004

By the end of 2004, approaching our 50th year of operation, our annual sales reached $756 million.

2005

By the end of 2005, the company had sales exceeding $1.4 billion.

2006

Regal transferred Lincoln to Leeson in 2006.

2008

In 2008, LEESON patented the Extreme Duck Ultra® motor, the latest in the line of the Duck series of motors.

2015

By the end of 2015, the company’s total sales were $3.5 billion.
