Responsibilities IMAGING: Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment. Performs and maintains competency in Abdominal, OB/GYN, Small Parts, Biopsy, Carotid, Peripheral Venous, and Peripheral Arterial ultrasound studies in accordance with department standards and guidelines as detailed in the Ultrasound Procedure Manual. Recognizes the significance of structures visualized, differentiates artifacts and records scan for permanent record. Operates all ultrasound imaging equipment to ensure accurate and quality images. Develops and presents films and related patient information to physician for diagnosis. Assists with patient transport by moving patients using standard procedures. DOCUMENTATION: Gathers complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers. Identifies patient by checking patient's I.D., full name and medical record number according to department procedure. Review patient charts and orders to ensure correct examination. Labels images completely with demographic, position, and other needed documentation. Logs activities, gathers charging information, and charges exams as required. Follows department and hospital procedures and policies. Performs quality control and quality assurance, records results, and reports variance from normal equipment function. PERSONAL & PATIENT CARE AND SAFETY: Provides for personal and patient care and safety using professional judgment in accordance with written standards so there is no injury to self or others. Practices universal and blood and body fluid precautions, and sterile practices according to procedures. Communicates and uses knowledge of related anatomy and physiology to ensure appropriate and effective care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Maintains awareness of patient status and takes appropriate actions to meet their needs. PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR: Practices professional communications, appearance, conduct, punctuality, attendance, and attitude that lead to physician, patient and co-worker respect and confidence. Informs and educates patient and/or family of all needed information concerning the exam performed. Uses professional judgment and presents a professional image of competency to customer and staff. Maintains professional appearance, punctuality, flexibility, confidentiality, and guest relations. Handles stressful situations in ways that promote positive outcomes. Takes personal initiative to maintain current in education (journals, books, in-services, seminars, etc.) and certification. Participates in presenting professional information to colleagues. Qualifications Education: Graduate of accredited (by AMA or ARDMS) school of ultrasound or equivalent experience is required Skills: Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions. Licensure Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Abdomen and OB/GYN (ARDMS AB OB) required. The Sonographer may start with either AB or OB certification, and has one year to obtain the other. If proof of registration is not received within one year of assuming the Sonographer job, the position will be vacated by the incumbent. Current state license in Sonography is required for all employees who perform this job in the state of Oregon. ARDMS Breast certification preferred. BLS/CPR Certification: American Heart Association, Health Care provider level BLS and AED Certification required. Pay Range USD $47.74 - USD $68.28 /Hr. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Ultrasound Technologist performs all Ultrasound studies and related procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision in accordance with established department and hospital guidelines. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Echocardiographer performs cardiovascular ultrasound procedures and related tasks according to provider orders utilizing knowledge and judgement regarding imaging technique and patient treatment. Database network oversight ensuring timely follow-thru of ECHO/CV Ultrasound performance, interpretation and reporting back to appropriate providers and facilities. This position does not directly supervise any other caregivers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Performs and produces accurate and interpretable cardiovascular Ultrasounds per St. Charles Health System policies, procedures and established guidelines. Conducts timely office procedures (charges, charge audits, editing, filing, data collection, ordering, other) as required by St. Charles Health System. Ensures that charges are entered, audited in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures that all cardiovascular ultrasounds/Echos are read daily and dispersed back to the referring physicians and facilities. Provides timely report and database entry completion and maintains St. Charles Health System Echo database network and provides clinical oversight and troubleshooting for the system. Remains proficient in administration of ultrasound contrast agent per St. Charles Health System policies and procedures.
