ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Plan, develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum that provides instruction in basic skills such as color, shape, number, and letter recognition as well as social skills. * Establish clear objectives for all lessons, prepares, organizes, and leads instruction in all activities. * Assist students, individually or in small groups, with assignments such as reading stories, providing writing assistance, reinforcing language skills, numbers, alphabet, computer learning programs, and more. * Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials (e.g. art projects, computer, language skills, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom goals and objectives. * Assist students during lunchtime, toileting, and washing activities. * Enforce cleanup activities by modeling appropriate behavior. * Prepare instructional materials (e.g. laminating, making posters, making copies, bulletin boards, filing, newsletters, etc.). * Provide an environment of comfort and security for young students by indulging in nurturing behavior. * Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, appropriate and/or inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, change in behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel. * Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures. * Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis. * Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment. * Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community. * Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification. * Participate in training and staff meetings. * Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and coordinating meetings as needed. * Evaluate each student's learning capabilities and celebrate student accomplishments. * Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives. * Being active in the role when light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required.
