GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The staffattorney also designs and carries out outreach and community legal education and works closely with the community and low-income community groups to further LANWT's mission of reducing poverty by providing equitable access to the civil justice system. The staffattorney may supervise and coordinate activities of legal, clerical, volunteer, or student workers. In short, the staffattorney is expected to handle a caseload involving substantial litigation and other justice-related advocacy, periodically attend evening legal clinics, and devise and participate in community legal education programs and outreach offered by LANWT.
In fulfilling this mission, the attorney will provide high-quality representation to indigent clients in accordance with LANWT's policies and procedures and with an attorney's responsibilities under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct, the Texas Lawyer's Creed, and the American Bar Association's Standards for Providers of Civil Legal Services to the Poor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensed to practice law in Texas.
Prior experience handling contested litigation cases preferred.
Strong understanding of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Texas Rules of Evidence.
Prior legal services, public interest, or volunteer experience serving low-income persons preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to think and plan strategically and to develop and implement projects.
Possess a strong work ethic and a sense of accountability.

Qualifications
Education: JD degree with specialization in Immigration law. Must be licensed to practice law in any jurisdiction (state Bar preferred). Experience with immigration representation and other areas of Immigration law, including asylum representation and working with vulnerable populations.
Experience: A minimum of 2 - 4 years' experience with immigration representation and other areas of Immigration Law, including asylum representation. A minimum of 2 years' experience supervising others.
Other Skills: Spanish, Dari, or Pashto language skills desired. Superior written and verbal communication skills are required. The successful candidate must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office and internet applications.

Legal Aid of Nebraska is seeking a passionate and committed Attorney for our North Platte office.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for providing effective and efficient representation of clients in our Norfolk office.
Evaluating potential cases to determine acceptance and extent of representation.
Identifying and gathering other information to assist in determining case acceptance.
Formulating legal opinions and recommendations based on investigation, interviews, and legal research; representing clients in all aspects of their cases, including, but not limited to preparation of pleadings, research, discovery, negotiations, settlement, litigation, and appeal.
Educating clients regarding their legal options and the consequences of each, as well as processes and procedures involved in representing the client's interests.
Maintains knowledge of the current developments in the various substantive areas of law as they affect Legal Aid's clients and the client community, in which the individual attorney practices.
Provide legal advice and counseling to clients, helping them understand their rights and options.
Participate in community outreach and education initiatives.

Successful applicants will have good research, writing, litigation, and communication skills.
Successful applicants will also have a demonstrated interest or experience in advancing the goal of equal justice for all.
Must be admitted to Nebraska bar or out-of-state bar with pending waiver application to Nebraska bar.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in the State of Nebraska and member in good standing with Nebraska Bar Association.
Fluency in a second language is preferred.
Relevant experience in poverty law, with a legal aid program, or serving the client community in a way related to legal services is highly desirable.
