Major, Lindsey & Africa's Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim to Permanent Commercial Real Estate Paralegal.
Overview: Our seeks a skilled and experienced Commercial Real Estate Paralegal to join its team.
Company: Our client is a real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on the acquisition and operation of single-tenant, industrial properties throughout the United States.
Experience: Seven or more years' transactional experience acquired in a top law firm and/or well-respected in-house environment.
Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
Responsibilities Include:
Review negotiate and draft a variety of complex commercial real estate agreements including: access agreements, assignments, termination agreements, consents to assignment, consents to sublease, estoppel certificates, confidentiality or Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDAs), SNDAs, move-out obligation letters, default notices and demand letters, and landlord waiver agreements.
Review lease agreements and draft simple lease amendments, extensions or renewals and real estate license agreements (short-term leases).
Assist due diligence coordinator with the process of acquiring and disposing of properties (obtaining diligence reports, coordinating with third-party professionals, coordinating with internal team members, tracking deadlines, etc.).
Review and provide initial comments on NDAs from third parties.
Maintain and track expirations of letters of credit.
Collect, organize, and maintain diligence materials in connection with securities offerings and borrowing transactions.
Qualifications Include:
Excellent academic credentials including a baccalaureate degree from a well-respected US University.
Seven or more years relevant transactional experience, preferably with three or more years at a law firm servicing commercial real estate clients.
Tech skills: Excel; contracts management and database system.

The Position

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare legal filings: format documents, pull exhibits, proofread and redact documents

Open new matters
Document management and organization and saving to networks

Input billing information into billing software

Qualifications

WORK SCHEDULE:

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience supporting high-level executives in a confidential environment; some of this experience may be substituted with post-secondary education or certification (e.g., Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate).
Strong organizational skills, discretion, and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
Detail-oriented, team-oriented, and able to communicate effectively at all levels.
Experience with public boards or state/local government preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard business hours, with the understanding that schedules may vary based on operational needs. This may include occasional evenings, weekends, or travel, as required. Occasional travel to MCCA facilities is required. Travel to relevant conferences or external events may also be necessary based on business needs.
All positions within the MCCA are designated as on-site roles. As such, this position requires in-person attendance five days per week. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not part of MCCA's operational model.
DRESS CODE:
Business formal. Employees are expected to project dignity and decorum appropriate for public-facing leadership roles through professional dress and grooming.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position primarily involves sedentary office work with frequent use of standard office equipment and occasional movement around MCCA facilities. The role may require attending off-site meetings and events, and occasionally lifting or carrying materials up to 15 pounds. * Compose original letters that require a good working knowledge of legal procedures and specialized terminology, e.g., transmittal of pleadings, requests for extensions of time in certain cases, advising of actions taken or developments in cases referred by other federal departments and agencies, and notices to attorneys representing defendants.
Provide a variety of ancillary office support functions requiring some subject-matter knowledge of the United States Attorneys programs and operations. Typical assignments may include the following:

* Assemble the physical files and electronic files for new cases by filing materials in chronological order, preparing and printing conflict of interest sheets for assigned attorneys, and numbering the initial case materials and discovery. Upon receipt, send additional discovery to outside parties as directed by the assigned attorney.
* Prepare files for closing by putting the documents in chronological order, ensuring that the relevant documents are in the file, and prepare a closing sheet for the assigned attorney's signature.
* Receive visitors, answer telephone and refer callers to staff members or take messages as appropriate. Deliver to and retrieve papers from the federal courthouse. Furnish requested information concerning pending and closed matters and cases, functions and general procedures of the office. Determine which matters should be referred to the AUSA and the urgency of the matter.
* Attend meetings and trainings as may be required and appropriate.
* Produce a variety of written documents and materials utilizing a wide range of office software applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, Adobe Acrobat Professional or other databases. For example, assignments may include integrating output from different software types, e.g., tables produced by database applications and charts and graphs produced by electronic spreadsheet applications, into word processing or desktop publishing text. Products include complicated tables, graphs and charts, which may be incorporated into legal documents or courtroom presentations. Ensures all documents contain the proper format, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar.
* When appropriate, provide automated litigation assistance to attorneys in trial preparation and courtroom presentations, including transcribing dictation. Utilize various software applications and graphics hardware such as scanners and plotters. Prepare documents, charts, and visual materials used in trials. Provide technical support e.g., enlarging charts and photographs, duplicating tapes and videos, and marking exhibits.

The Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) is the state agency in Massachusetts responsible for providing an attorney when the state or federal constitution or a state statute requires the appointment of an attorney for a person who cannot afford to retain one. The agency provides representation in criminal, delinquency, youthful offender, child welfare, guardianship, mental health, sexually dangerous person, and sex offender registry cases, as well as in appeals and post-conviction and post-judgment proceedings related to those matters.

Children & Family Law Division
Interns will assist lawyers and work closely with social workers to represent children and parents in cases in which the Department of Children and Families (DCF) removes children from their homes because of claims of neglect or abuse. The Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) is the state agency in Massachusetts responsible for providing an attorney when the state or federal constitution or a state statute requires the appointment of an attorney for a person who cannot afford to retain one. Prepare for trial as needed by assisting paralegals and attorneys.
Candidate Requirements:
Minimum of a high school diploma required (college degree is preferred, but not required).
Minimum of 3+ years of experience as litigation administrative assistant.
Notary Public (preferred, but not required).
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), Lexis Nexis/File & Serve Xpress, Odyssey, PACER, ECF, iManage, or other comparable document management system; Aderant knowledge is a plus.
