The Office of the District Attorney, Prosecutorial District 35, seeks a qualified candidate to provide legal support services to the prosecutors in the Mitchell County office. Duties include but are not limited to the following: answer phones; assist the public; type correspondence; prepare legal documents; prepare files; assist victims and witnesses understand and prepare for court; gather information to assist in the prosecution of cases; and other duties as assigned. This position will require travel throughout this 5-county district, which includes: Avery, Madison, Mitchell, Watauga, and Yancey counties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Knowledge of: court system and procedures; legal terminology; and community resources to refer victims and witnesses.

+ Maintain familiarity with legal matters assigned by reviewing monthly status reports and other litigation memos and assisting outside counsel with collecting company documents in response to discovery requests.

+ Coordinate compliance with central legal department filing system among staff and attorneys. Ensure compliance to corporate records retention policies are maintained.
+ Support the preparation of monthly presentations to officers and other periodic internal and external presentations.

We consult on legal and litigation issues with other law offices (e.g., disability rights and legal services) and health organizations. Our enforcement and litigation team works closely with our Health Law Partnerships, state-based public interest law offices in more than 20 states. Our Amicus Project prepares briefs on behalf of national, state, and community-based organizations when courts are considering major health access and equity issues.
THE POSITION
NHeLP is seeking a driven and highly motivated Paralegal to perform a range of responsibilities in support of the Enforcement and Litigation team. Candidates should possess the ability to interact with the Team at all levels in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism. The position requires strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to drive numerous projects and deliverables, and prioritize tasks effectively. THE POSITION
NHeLP is seeking a driven and highly motivated Paralegal to perform a range of responsibilities in support of the Enforcement and Litigation team. Program Overview:

Must be local or willing to relocate to Greensboro, NC

Currently enrolled in an accredited law school, entering your second or third year, and able to receive a paid internship.
Have previously demonstrated leadership skills through school, extracurricular activities and/or community involvement

Project Role: Legal Intern
The intern will work in the Legal function for Kontoor Brand, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel… The intern will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience with the day-to-day operations and legal issues facing Kontoor while developing your legal skills in a fast-paced corporate environment. The legal intern will work on projects in a variety of practice areas, which may include commercial contracts, compliance, employment, privacy, sustainability, and intellectual property.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete legal assignments for supervising attorneys and members of the Kontoor Legal Department
Drafting and prepare legal documents, memorandum, and correspondence,
Conduct legal research, data analysis,
Assist with projects related to corporate recordkeeping and corporate compliance
Attend and observe meetings with both Kontoor legal and business team members
Skills for Success:
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint proficient
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills
Excellent issue spotting and problem-solving skills
Be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
Follows through with all tasks, assignments, and job duties in a timely manner
Good time management and organizational skills
Experience/Education:
Pursing a Juris Doctor degree
