    The Legal Aid Society has an immediate opening for an anchor attorney in citywide Homicide Defense Task Force (HDTF). The anchor attorney will handle homicide cases exclusively and assist the Attorney-in-Charge of HDTF in providing leadership and mentorship to all homicide certified attorneys, and other interdisciplinary team members. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Represent clients charged with homicide offenses Mentor, support, and provide opportunities for attorneys to second seat homicide trials Assist the Attorney-in-Charge in providing support, mentorship and daily administration for other HDTF attorneys, mitigation specialists, paralegal case handlers and investigators in the boroughs Establish the vision and strategies for the HDTF to achieve high quality legal representation and optimal outcomes for clients charged with homicide offenses Attend required trainings Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Required qualifications: Substantial litigation experience as first chair, including the resolution of homicide and serious felony offenses required Commitment to develop and participate in all training programs for attorneys in trial offices Mentor and motivate all staff to advance their professional development and growth. SALARY AND BENEFITS The salary range represents a good faith estimate of the range we expect to pay for this role.
