Our client is looking to add a Legal Invoice Analyst that will be responsible for the prompt, accurate and efficient auditing of electronically submitted legal fee and expense invoices submitted by law firms and vendors of our clients. The candidate will be responsible for adjusting invoice line-item entries, where those line-item entries violate provisions of the relevant billing guidelines and documenting the justification for such adjustments. The Legal Invoice Analyst I will provide guidance to business unit partners regarding issues or opportunities within the LBA process.
Efficiently and accurately review legal invoice entries.
Receive legal invoice assignments from the Operations Support Specialist and/or work the intake queue for self-assignments.
Verify the compliance to legal billing guidelines by law firms and vendor submitting invoices.
Verify the accuracy of the UTBMS task codes (Fee, Activity and Expense codes) applied to invoice line items.
Document reasons for any adjustments made to invoice line items, identifying the billing guideline violated and the rationale for the amount adjusted.
Forward the audited legal bill through the review chain as required.
Communicate and calibrate with Legal Invoice Analyst and Quality Assurance Analyst team members.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school required.
0-2 years of the experience in a legal services or legal invoice auditing environment.
Prior experience with direct communication with law firms in a legal billing context.
Experience with handling conflict with law firms, in writing and telephonically.
Highly developed communication skills, including both excellent written and verbal skills.
Grasp of the Federal and/or State Rules of Civil Procedure is a plus
Insurance defense and civil litigation experience preferred.
Prior legal invoice auditing experience either in-house or with a third-party legal invoice auditing company strongly preferred.
Prior US and International legal invoice review and analysis experience in a legal invoice analyst role is a plus
Prior experience in auditing claims litigation.
Prior work experience with an insurance company.
Experience in handling appeals of legal invoice claims adjustments.
Prior experience with direct communication with law firms in a legal invoice review context.
The anticipated hourly rate range for this position is ($28-30/hr). Actual hourly rate will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law. Maintain legal databases and filing systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
Communicate professionally with internal teams (Development, Construction, Accounting, Property Management) and external stakeholders (outside counsel, title companies, lenders, and investors).
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Requirements
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a legalassistant or paralegal supporting corporate, securities, or real estate matters.
Strong understanding of entity management, ownership structures, and corporate governance.
Experience preparing and filing corporate and regulatory documents (e.g., annual reports, registrations, or securities-related filings).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
Paralegal certification.
Experience supporting private placement or investment fund documentation.
Familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools or Docusign.
Working knowledge of SEC, Blue Sky, or state-level securities compliance requirements.
Notary Public certification (or willingness to obtain).
Experience in the real estate development, construction, or property management industry.
Compensation and Benefits for Paralegal:
Pay Range: $29.28-$37.59 / hour
