This position offers aspiring legal professionals the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a collegial corporate environment. The Legal Intern or Extern will work closely with in-house counsel as assigned to conduct legal research, create drafts, participate in document and discovery review, and other projects. The successful candidate is anticipated to attend internal planning discussions, trainings, and presentations. Note: This position may be filled as either a Legal Intern (paid without academic credit) or Legal Extern (for academic credit, whether paid or unpaid) dependent on the specific circumstances of the successful applicant. Work must be 100% undertaken and completed within the State of Alaska for any paid intern or extern position.
Starting Hourly Range: $37.81 - $38.67
This is an in-person position located in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Draft company filings with the FCC, RCA, and other regulatory bodies
Provide legal support and advice to company personnel on a broad range of local, state and federal legal, regulatory and compliance matters.

Duties Include:
* Responsible for the smooth flow of paperwork and files between the judges' chambers and the Clerk's Office;
* Type and edit correspondence, orders, and documents authorized by the judge;
* Work files with pending motions and determine readiness and urgency for handling by the judge;
* Perform In-Court clerking duties as needed; prepare log notes; prepare criminal judgments, bail orders, and other in-court forms as necessary;
* Docket and distribute signed orders and notices;
* Maintain files and updates in CourtView;
* Schedule hearings, manage the judge's schedule in CourtView and Outlook;
* Interact with public in courtroom; receive and screen telephone calls and visitors to chambers;
* Prepare and submit biweekly pay affidavits, and judicial leave reports;

The Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
PLEASE NOTE: This position is assigned to the court's partially-exempt service; incumbents serve "at-will" to the hiring authority. Upon the retirement or resignation of the Superior Court Judge, this position will end unless the incumbent is interviewed and selected by a new judge.

**PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**
