Attorneys' duties include but are not limited to:
* Legal representation of parents in daily juvenile dependency proceedings in the Los Angeles County Juvenile Dependency Court. This duty includes in-court and out-of-court representation of parents at all phases of dependency case proceedings.
* Attorneys are to establish and maintain an attorney-client relationship with their client.
* Attorneys are to conduct thorough, continuing, and independent investigations and interviews at every stage of the proceedings on behalf of their client. Attorneys shall utilize the services of law firm social workers, investigators, paralegals and parent partners as necessary. Attorneys are to file pleadings, motions, responses, or objections as necessary on behalf of their client.
LADL attorneys go through a multi-tiered training period to prepare them for the stimulating and electric atmosphere of the 28 courtrooms in Monterey Park.
Requirements:

Litigation/Employment
The Litigation/Employment section represents LACERA in state, federal and appellate courts in connection with member and other claims by or against the fund, including petition for writs of mandate, breach of fiduciary duty, and other pension law claims; oversight of outside counsel concerning LACERA litigation; reporting of litigation-related matters to the Board of Investments and Board of Retirement; handling of administrative appeals before the Board of Retirement; preparation of written documents; first and second chair oral hearings, arguments, and presentations, provides legal support to Human Resources Division on a wide range of employment matters including labor laws, discrimination laws under Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and California Family Rights Act (CFRA), civil service rules and workplace investigations; participation at the bargaining table during union negotiations.

As a member of the Pars Equality Center (Pars) Legal Team, the Staff Attorney will provide legal consultation and client representation, conduct community education, and engage in advocacy on community issues. The attorney will work closely with the Legal Director and other legal and social services staff to deliver high-quality, culturally competent legal services to immigrants and refugees in Los Angeles County.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Provide legal consultation, case preparation, and full representation to low-income clients filing affirmative immigration applications, including family-based and humanitarian petitions, waivers, U Visas, VAWA, Asylum, Naturalization, Consular Processing, and Adjustments of Status.
· Plan and conduct workshops, clinics, outreach activities, and information sessions for immigrants and community partners. Some events may occur in the evenings or on weekends.
· Track and maintain compliance with all grant deliverables. Prepare required narrative and statistical reports for funders, ensuring accuracy and timely data entry.
· Comply with Pars's policies, procedures, and legal practice standards, including confidentiality, fee collection, maintenance of client files, and compliance with nonprofit immigration law protocols.
· Assess client eligibility for services and fees, execute service contracts, and coordinate with administrative staff to ensure timely filing and payment.
