The Assistant Managing Attorney will play a critical role in ensuring the Managing Attorney's Office utilizes emerging technologies to improve efficiency and modernize all e-filing, calendaring, and docketing processes. The Assistant Managing Attorney will also manage ad hoc projects to ensure excellence among all members of the Managing Attorney's Office team and will oversee the office in the Managing Attorney's absence. Bachelor's degree and J.D. are required Must have current New York bar admission (additional jurisdictions a plus) 7+ years' experience in managing attorney's office/docketing/clerking role and/or practicing litigation attorney experience Detailed knowledge of state and federal court rules and procedures, with an emphasis on New York practice; knowledge of other jurisdictions such as Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, Illinois, or California state court practice is a plus Mastery of New York State Courts E-Filing (NYSCEF), federal court CM/ECF and CompuLaw calendaring system, including procedures for filing under seal in New York State and federal courts Able to prioritize, multitask, and work under pressure Robust knowledge of PACER, PacerPro, NYSCEF, CourtAlert, Lexis, Westlaw, CompuLaw, and Bloomberg Law Exceptional written and verbal communication Excellent client service skills and collaborative mentality; must work as a team player with attorneys, paralegals, staff, other members of the Managing Attorney's Office, and vendors Ability to inspire and lead teams in fast-paced environments This position will require physical presence in Proskauer's offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require). The anticipated compensation range for this position is $170,000 - $220,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. Work with the Managing Attorney and Managing Clerks to oversee all docket-related responsibilities, including calendaring and docketing of active litigations, including assigning these tasks to members of the Managing Attorney's Office and performing these tasks as needed Provide advice and analysis on procedural issues in federal and state court cases and administrative proceedings Assist with attorney and paralegal training regarding court systems, court rules, and the preparation, service and filing of court papers, including communication of new and amended rules and procedures to Firm personnel Manage e-filing, calendaring, and docketing workload, including by working with other members of the Managing Attorney's Office to ensure all tasks are assigned and completed Assist attorneys and staff in all offices with local court proceedings, coordinating service of process and court filings, including liaising with court personnel and local counsel as needed Maintain up to date knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure as well as state and local rules of courts for the Firm's primary jurisdictions, and research rules and procedures pertaining to other jurisdictions as needed Ensure exceptional client service levels are achieved in delivery of services to all Firm personnel (including attorneys, paralegals, and staff) Work with outside attorney service organizations, such as process servers, document retrieval and surety bond companies, and with internal Firm departments, including Knowledge Services and Knowledge Management, to leverage available technologies and evaluate emerging technologies that impact docket management, including calendaring and filing Work with the Managing Attorney to ensure all documents are compliant with applicable filing rules and guidelines, and all cases are properly calendared and docketed, including implementing internal practice and procedures to improve efficiency Provide assistance and advice to attorneys and staff concerning electronic case filing issues Monitor active matters to ensure that events are timely posted on attorney and Firm calendars Answer procedural questions posed by attorneys, paralegals, and staff Motivate and develop other Managing Attorney's Office team members Assist the Managing Attorney to carry out supervisory responsibilities as needed, including interviewing; training; scheduling, monitoring and approving overtime; budgeting; appraising employee performance; and addressing complaints and resolving problems Assist with registering attorneys for state and federal court e-filing credentials, including, but not limited to NYSCEF and NextGen, and troubleshoot and resolve various credentials issues as they arise Assist with enrolling attorneys on CourtAlert Vault and maintaining NextGen, NYSCEF, and any other e-filing credentials on Vault and in internal repositories
