Schedule related appointments and maintain calendars for Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys when necessary.

Assist prosecutors to ensure case file is ready for court through various tasks.

Job Summary

Primary Responsibilities

Handle all aspects of criminal cases, from pre-trial motions and hearings to trial, sentencing, and post-conviction matters. Conduct investigations, interview clients and witnesses, gather and review evidence, and research legal issues related to each case. Develop defense strategies, prepare motions, legal briefs, and other necessary legal documents to advance clients' cases effectively. Provide legal counsel and guidance to clients, ensuring they understand their legal rights, options, and the potential consequences of their decisions. Negotiate plea deals with the prosecution, ensuring that clients' interests are best represented during these discussions. Represent clients in hearings, trials, motions, and other court proceedings, delivering persuasive arguments and utilizing effective trial strategies. Manage a substantial caseload, ensuring that each case is handled efficiently and within deadlines. Meet the criteria of the employer to represent clients charged with class A felonies. Due to the sensitive nature of cases, an individual must possess a high level of discretion and professionalism. Likewise, an individual must be an Arkansas Public Notary, or be eligible to become an Arkansas Public Notary upon hire.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School, and knowledge of computers, especially Microsoft Office Suite. At least two (2) years of administrative experience required. Possess good typing/computer skills, general secretarial skills as well as a high level of organizational skills. Must possess good public relations and communication skills. Experience in the legal profession is helpful, but not required.
Associate or higher degree in Paralegal Studies, Criminal Justice, or Legal Technology preferred. Commensurate work experience may be substituted for degree.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Assist Deputy Prosecuting Attorney's in their positions to maintain an efficient work environment. Position will require daily contact with attorneys, law enforcement officers, various outside agencies as well as Courts, Judges, and their Case Coordinators, etc.
