This position will support members of the Personal & Succession Planning practice group.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Estate Administration
Prepare initial probate papers.
Value assets, either manually or by use of computer programs, including required research.
Prepare probate inventories and accountings, and other court required filings.
Provide information regarding filing deadlines and/or other deadlines for inclusion on the firm-wide docket.
Contact court and other agencies in order to process filings, record deeds and other conveyances, and, when required, to personally file estate documents.
Arrange distributions to or on behalf of beneficiaries.
Draft deeds and other transfer documents to fund revocable trusts.
Research state and county records to obtain information on business entities and heirs.
Meet with Probate Court Magistrates as needed.
Experience working with banks, county auditors and other governmental agencies.
Estate & Gift Tax Returns
Gather and organize gift information and related documentation.
Gather and organize asset and debt information from Executor/Trustee.
Prepare a first draft of gift tax returns and estate tax returns.
Coordinate with other professionals, e.g., accountant, financial advisor, family office.
Trust Administration - Inter Vivos Trusts
Review Brokerage Statements.
Arrange distributions to or on behalf of beneficiaries.
Prepare reports to beneficiaries.
Required Qualifications
Four-year degree or equivalent experience. Degree in Paralegal Studies or paralegal certificate preferred.
Must have familiarity with the Ohio Probate Law and Microsoft Office programs.
Experience with the following software is highly desired: LEXIS, Estate Val XP, Financial Partner, Perfect Forms, Brentmark IRS Factors Calculator, GEMS (Gillette Estate Management System).
Ability to carry out duties with the highest quality, standards and timeliness, while maintaining confidentiality and discretion at all times is necessary.
Must be proficient in drafting and revising documents with exceptional writing and proofreading skills.

Supports Risk Management and Lending in specialized legal matters including repossessions and foreclosures as appropriate

Required Qualifications
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school

The Law Clerk will engage in research and writing legal memoranda on various topics, review documents, attend and/or present at staff meetings relating to legal research, assist with the preparation of criminal hearings and trials or court hearings when opportunities arise, provide general office and administrative duties, including updating files and records, and calendaring and tracking deadlines.
Essential Functions:
Research and write memorandum or policies on a wide range of issues.
Review and/or draft contracts and contract amendments.
Assist with the preparation of criminal hearings and trials.
Attend court hearings, pre-trials, and trials.
Assist in processing Public Records Requests and Worker's Compensation matters.
Lend support in procurement process including, but not limited to, drafting of Request for Proposals, Requests for Qualifications, Requests for Information and bidding documents.
Maintains and analyzes federal, state and local legislation affecting Cleveland Metroparks.
Provides training and development activities to Cleveland Metroparks staff, as required.
Assisting with records retention of legal documents, including contracts.
Provide general office and administrative duties, including updating files and records, and calendaring and tracking deadlines.
