The Position

Key Responsibilities:
Draft and send routine correspondence
Prepare legal filings: format documents, pull exhibits, proofread and redact documents
E-file court filings in various courts
Open new matters / process matters for closing
Document management and organization
Schedule conferences and depositions, maintain attorney calendars
Review and process vendor invoices
Provide back-up when sending Wilson Elser invoices to clients
Submit check requests for processing
Qualifications
3+ years Defense Litigation experience and/or insurance defense experience a plus
Must have prior experience with litigation procedures and processes
Must be familiar with drafting, preparing, and formatting of pleadings
Must have familiarity with State and Federal court procedures and rules, and experience filing documents in both courts
Ability to work in a team-based setting with other Legal Secretaries supporting a group of attorneys
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to integrate into a fast-paced environment
Excellent typing skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office 2013 (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks quickly and efficiently

About the Role:
As a Paralegal, you are the gatekeeper of our clients' experience, and the project manager of their case. You will work closely with the assigned attorney with cases involving complex issues and clients with serious injuries that are not in litigation but have the potential to require litigation and would be certified as Tier 2-3 in Arizona state courts. What You'll Do
Manage own caseload of 50-65 personal injury cases. Cases may involve:
claims against governmental entities, multi-vehicle collisions, corporate defendants, wrongful death, dram shop, premises liability, dog bites, drowning, slip and falls, serious injuries including but not limited to clients who have suffered multi-day hospital stays, bone fractures, surgeries, extended rehabilitation, and substantial lost time from work. Cases have a high likelihood of requiring litigation.
Communicate with clients at a minimum of every 28 days to obtain case information and provide status updates.
Schedule attorney client calls for each client every 90 days.
Respond to client inquiries within a 24-48-hour time period.
Perform detailed and thorough work up of files to fully prepare the case for litigation if necessary.
Interview clients to obtain accident details and information regarding their injuries, medical providers, prognosis, and lifestyle impact.
Hire investigators to obtain witness statements, surveillance video, etc.
Draft and send public records requests, subpoenas, Notice of claim to governmental entities.
Investigate liability, causation, damages, and the at fault party's ability to pay.
Determine all layers of available insurance coverage to maximize our client's recovery.
Assist client with resolving property damage claims including arranging reservations for rental vehicles, removal of vehicles from tow yards/storage facilities, loss of use claims, total loss payouts, out of pocket expenses for damaged personal property, diminished value claims, and deductible reimbursement.
Obtain health insurance information and documentation.
Review documents including but not limited to police reports, witness statements, medical records, medical bills, and correspondence from insurance companies, health insurers, vendors, etc.
Communicate with various parties including insurance adjusters, medical providers, health insurance analysts, etc. regarding a client's claim.
Provide regular updates to attorneys regarding case status.
Determine medical records and bills that need to be requested from providers.
Anticipate the need for legal and/or medical experts and schedule independent medical examinations, records reviews, site inspections, etc.
Obtain subrogation information from government and private health insurers.
