Typical Functions Coordinates and supervises or directs correctional security functions and activities at an adult correctional facility; may serve as a shift supervisor with responsibility for all assigned units and functions in a large facility or as the chief of security in a smaller facility. May serve as commander of a correctional emergency response team; schedules training exercises and coordinates activities. Conducts special investigations, particularly concerning incidents that occur during assigned shifts. Serves as member of the administrative institutional staff; participates in the formulation of institutional policies, rules and regulations. Level Descriptor At this level employees serve as a correctional security captain with overall responsibility for the operations of an assigned shift within a medium or maximum-security facility and supervision of staff. Responsibilities may involve ensuring the proper functioning of the electronic, mechanical, surveillance, and physical security systems; overseeing physical and sanitary conditions, special investigations, and adherence to operational and policy protocols; directing the correctional emergency response team; and assumption of the operation and management of the facility after normal business hours or in the absence of the warden. Education and Experience Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of four years of experience in correctional or security work for a government agency or private corrections agency and the following statutory requirements of Title 57, O.S. Section 510: a. The minimum age for service shall be twenty (20) years of age. The Director shall have the authority to establish the maximum age for correctional officers entering service and b. possession of thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university; or possession of a high school diploma acquired from an accredited high school or GED equivalent testing program and graduation from a training course conducted by or approved by the Department and certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training either prior to employment or during the first six (6) months of employment. Special Requirements Per 57 O.S. 510 applicants/employees in this job family shall be subject to the following additional requirements: (a) be of good moral character; (b) before going on duty alone, satisfactory completion of an adequate training program for correctional officers and guards, as prescribed and approved by the State Board of Corrections; and (c) satisfactory completion of a physical in keeping with the conditions of the job description on an annual basis and along the guidelines as established by the Department of Corrections. The PSC will run and reconciles all reports necessary for payroll processing. This will include ensuring all timelines are met, frequencies are followed, documentation is complete and attached within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The PSC/TDS will ensure all therapy documentation is received and reconcile any incomplete documentation with the therapy companies daily. The PSC/TDS will be responsible for running all therapy reports as scheduled to ensure visits are completed accurately and timely for payment processing. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1. Promotes a positive work environment by consistently modeling in a positive way, agency philosophy, mission, values, and standards of care, and providing a professional role model for other staff. 2. Keeps up with workflow in a timely manner by addressing tasks periodically throughout each day. 3.
