As a Security Specialist, providing personnel, physical, and unit security functions in support of the 365 ISRG, 526 IS and 547 IS. Overall Duties and Responsibilities: Provides centralized security oversight, support, and mission assurance of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Collateral Classified Information. Delivers an effective security program to ensure that information and material affecting national defense are protected from unauthorized disclosure, espionage, and sabotage. Ensures granted individuals access to program information is clearly consistent with the interest of national security and defense. Provides day-to day operational assistance and interpretation of established policy governing security, use and dissemination of classified information. Assists in strategic security planning encompassing all facets and security disciplines involved in protection of classified resources. Personnel Security Duties and Responsibilities: Initiates and reviews all requests for personnel security investigations consistent with directives. Ensures that requests for security clearances are properly screened and verified, and that all necessary forms and documentation have been completed before processing for clearances. Analyzes each request received to determine validity for access indicated. Evaluates the sensitivity of the position, degree of clearance, and special access required to perform duties to determine type of investigation required. Determines which investigative agency to forward the request. Maintains prescribed files and records pertinent to clearances. Establishes priority processing of requests for investigations and correspondence pertaining to clearance records. Ensures accuracy of records in DISS or successor system. Conducts security reviews of NIPR/SIPR/JWICS/SAP System account requests. Conducts PKI security reviews updates. Reviews security clearance requests and similar related material for information that adversely reflects on the individual's loyalty or character. If results reveal a misrepresentation, initiates correspondence to appropriate authorities summarizing any falsified or derogatory information. Physical Security Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts evaluations and assessments of security operations, and takes, coordinates, or recommends corrective actions as required. Responsible for the security deviation program. Documents deficiencies, and compensatory measures, monitors the status of corrective actions, works to correct deficiencies, and coordinates with higher headquarters. Involved in and monitors all construction and other projects associated with priority resources and restricted areas to include ensuring contractor compliance with physical security requirements. Assists with maintenance of IDS/ACS/ physical locks for unit facilities. Ensures quarterly updates of facilities FFC, TEMPEST and baselines are submitted when required. Reviews/updates Emergency Action Plan to provide maximum security based on risk management. Provides advice and monitors all organization's Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIFs) and open storage facilities; maintains master documentation on all existing facilities and those under construction; coordinates initial operations procedures and keeps abreast of physical security vulnerabilities and policies. Unit Security Responsibilities Reviews security incidents and assists in determining appropriate corrective action. Resolves classification and declassification problem areas and advises technical personnel on classification requirements for programs and projects. Manages and synchronizes classification and declassification reviews. Provides technical assistance in the procurement of classified destruction equipment. Manages and monitors required security training requirements. Participates in security related special projects and initiatives and performs special assignments. Serves as the Groups Anti-terrorism and Force Protection (AT/FP) officer, Operations Security (OPSEC) officer, and attends at local working group(s) and/or Security Awareness, Training and Education events. Executes security self-assessment program and security incident reports. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor Degree and 8-12 + years of related experience OR a Masters Degree and 6-10 years of experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Must possess a current DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance. Skilled with interacting and coordinating across multiple technical and business teams. Able to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experienced with various operating systems, platforms, and IT infrastructure Must possess a current DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance. Knowledge of information, industrial, personnel, and physical security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. Skill in interacting with personnel at all levels of command in all kinds of situations, to include processing the most sensitive information about personnel, handling alarms activations, interfacing with base security forces personnel, and keeping calm in emergency situations.
