LEITNER company history timeline

1888

1888 Sterzingli mechanics Gabriel Leitner founded his atelier where he manufactures cable cars, water turbines and woodworking equipment for agricultural machinery and material handling.

In 1888, Gabriel Leitner established the business, specializing in farm machinery, ropeways for material transportation, waterwheels and sawmills.

1925

1925 10 has transformed into a factory that manufactures mass production machines.

In 1925, the company grew from a workshop employing 10 employees to a factory to produce agricultural machinery.

1947

1947 After World War II, the company stopped material transportation by cable car and started human transport by cable car and LEITNER produced its first chairlift in Covara (IT).

In 1947, the company build its first chairlift in Corvara, Italy.

1980

In 1980 a production plant was built.

1983

1983 LEITNER began to use separable terminal systems.

In 1983, the company developed a detachable grip for chairlifts and gondola lifts.

1985

In 1985, the first detachable gondola lifts were made in Brunico and Valtournenche, Italy.

1999

In 1999, the company acquired the ropeway division of Waagner Biro.

2000

2000 LEITNER developed the Direct-Drive system.

2003

2003 LEITWIND wind turbine improved

In 2003, a company-wide reorganization resulted in the Leitner Group being formed.

2008

In 2008 the MiniMetro was first built in Perugia, Italy.

2009

In 2009, Leitner produced the company's first tricable gondola lift.

2012

2012 LEITNER branch in Bursa, Turkey officially opened Today, LEITNER has production facilities in Sterzing (IT), Austria, France and Colorado and 70 sales and service centers in other countries.

2015

In 2015, Agudio was integrated into Leitner Ropeways, however the brand was retained.
